Fairview is looking for a Full Time Medical Laboratory Scientist for the Northeast Clinic Laboratories (1.0 FTE or 80 hours/2 week pay period). Primary site is M Health Fairview Clinic - Vadnais Heights (https://mhealthfairview.org/locations/m-health-fairview-clinic---vadnais-heights) with a weekend shift at an Urgent Care site. Shifts may also be assigned at M Health Fairview Clinic - Wyoming (https://mhealthfairview.org/locations/m-health-fairview-clinic---wyoming) , M Health Fairview Clinic - Hugo (https://mhealthfairview.org/locations/m-health-fairview-clinic---hugo) , M Health Fairview Clinic - Blaine (https://mhealthfairview.org/locations/m-health-fairview-clinic---blaine) , and M Health Fairview Clinic - Stillwater. (https://mhealthfairview.org/locations/m-health-fairview-clinic---stillwater) Shifts are 8 hours in length, working the closing shift at Vadnais Heights Monday and Tuesday from 9:45am to 6:15pm and Friday from 8:45am to 5:15pm, with shifts at alternate clinics on Wednesday and Thursday. Shift may vary based on business needs, with the latest ending time of 6:15pm. Weekend hours will be one day (Saturday or Sunday) scheduled every 5-6 weeks at an Urgent Care location.
Staff that travel between clinics are compensated with mileage reimbursement, as well as additional $3/hour float pay when travelling to applicable locations.
The Medical Laboratory Scientist/Medical Technologist (MLS/MT) functions independently in performing all major work responsibilities of professional laboratory practice. An MLS/MT performs a wide variety of complex diagnostic and therapeutic testing, and acts as a resource for problem resolution and interpretation of results. The MLS/MT correlates data based on clinical knowledge, technical expertise, and other conditions affecting test results. The MLS/MT collaborates with the customers of the laboratory to promote customer satisfaction. The MLS/MT participates in laboratory performance improvement activities.
Job expectations include:
+ Follows established guidelines to obtain specimens and prioritize work.
+ Performs a wide variety of complex diagnostic and therapeutic testing.
+ Recognizes problems and takes appropriate measures to resolve them.
+ Evaluates testing results for accuracy and appropriate intervention.
+ Demonstrates understanding of and commitment to Laboratory Quality Assurance, Performance Improvement and Laboratory Compliance Programs.
+ Orients and mentors’ new employees and students.
+ Demonstrates ability to provide care or service adjusting approaches to reflect developmental level and cultural differences of population served.
+ Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
+ Bachelor of Science Nursing in a related laboratory field including the related lab practicum or equivalent routes as specified in CLIA’88
+ Good phlebotomy skills
+ Demonstrate the ability to work under stress in a variety of situations.
+ Ability to exercise independent judgment
+ Possess or be eligible to receive appropriate HHS approved laboratory certification (ASCP, or AMT)
+ Basic Life Support (American Heart Assoc or Red Cross) within 90 Days
