Fairview is looking for a Laboratory Care Technician for the Acute Care Laboratory at M Health Fairview Southdale Hospital (https://www.mhealthfairview.org/locations/m-health-fairview-southdale-hospital) in Edina, MN. This is a part-time position, 48 hours per 2 week pay period and every other weekend rotation. This position will include primarily Day shifts with occasional Evening shifts. Day shifts are either 5:00am to 1:30pm or 6:00am to 2:30pm. Evening shifts are either 1:15pm to 9:45pm or 2:30pm to 11:00pm. This person will be responsible for collection of blood specimen in inpatient/outpatient and pre-surgical settings.

M Health Fairview Southdale Acute Care Laboratory is fast-paced and it is staffed 24hours a day, 7 days a week. Our laboratory provides quality testing in the areas of clinical hematology, chemistry, blood gas, coagulation, urinalysis, transfusion medicine, and blood collection and processing.

Working with diverse populations within a healthcare environment, the LCT plays a meaningful role in providing quality, proficient and professional services in keeping with Fairview Values as they interact with our patients, families and co-workers. The LCT performs laboratory specimen collection, as well as, provides for safe and secure specimen handling and point of care testing. Responsible for accurately entering orders and collection information into the Laboratory Information System and associated subsystems; monitoring computer logs for incomplete work; scheduling tests/procedures and providing results in LIS/HIS and over the phone, the LCT's attention to detail and accuracy are the foundation for our providing quality laboratory services. Working as an individual or team member, the LCT continuously works towards providing quality service improvement and optimum support to the department and team members in achieving Fairview's goals.

Following established guidelines to obtain specimens and perform procedures, prioritizing work to achieve optimal patient outcomes, information Processing, maintaining a safe work environment, demonstrating ability to deliver care or service adjusting approaches to reflect developmental level and cultural differences of population served. Required

+ At least 18 years of age

Education

+ Completion of a formal phlebotomy education program OR-

+ Completion of three months of full-time clinical phlebotomy and laboratory experience OR-

+ Enrollment in final year of MLT or MLS program.

Experience

+ Successful customer service background within a diverse cultural setting

Preferred

+ Prior laboratory experience in a hospital or clinic setting in a similar capacity
