Cepheid is seeking a highly experienced and dynamic Program Director to lead the development and commercialization of innovative medical diagnostic systems. This pivotal role will be responsible for ensuring the timely development and successful commercialization execution of large-scale, highly strategic, and complex medical diagnostic programs. The Program Director leads cross-functional teams through the process from conceptualization to commercialization.

This position is part of the Portfolio Management Office and will be located on-site in Sunnyvale, California. At Cepheid, our vision is to be the leading provider of seamlessly connected diagnostic solutions.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

+ Leads and directs the cross-functional activities and outcomes of a program.

+ Ensures alignment of product value proposition, program scope, and strategic business objective.

+ Leads program leadership daily management and L2 product planning group (PPG) for key large scale, highly strategic, multiple projects, business critical project or program interacting with business leaders, senior functional leaders on significant business matters, strategic, operational or technical matters, in order to define best options for product development.

+ Provides coaching, mentoring and feedback to Core Team members, Project Managers, Functional Leaders.

+ Analyzes data and complex situations involving evaluation of tangible variables to programs.

+ Use an advanced knowledge of business processes and organizational savvy to mobilize and deploy the resources necessary to support the business.

+ Demonstrates program management best practices and contributes to improving product development process.

The essential requirements of the job include:

+ Bachelor’s Degree (relevant to medical or scientific domain) with preference for 14+ years of experience, or Master’s/Doctoral degree with preference for 12 years of experience, and 4+ years experience managing people.

+ Prefer 10+ years experience in a senior project or program management roles with the ability to coordinate multiple project/program streams ensuring a comprehensive approach at the platform or system level.

+ Experience in the medical diagnostics or medical device industry, with a significant focus on the development and commercialization of integrated systems (hardware, software, assay development, life-cycle management, etc).

+ Track record of success in new product development from inception, development, and through commercialization in a regulated environment.

+ Complete understanding of a wide application of business and program management principles, theories and concepts in the field.

+ Cross functional Process master, Influence without authority, business commercial, and finance acumen.

+ Familiarity with regulatory requirements for medical devices and in vitro diagnostics (e.g., FDA 21 CFR Part 820, IVDR).

Travel, Motor Vehicle Record & Physical/Environment Requirements:

+ Ability to travel up to 25%.

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

+ Experience in life sciences industry

+ Knowledge of the infectious diseases’ medical diagnostics domain

The salary range for this role is $200k-$240k. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. This range may be modified in the future.

This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
