Position Summary: The Senior Manager, Indirect Sourcing for Leica Biosystems is responsible for providing leadership and direction for the Indirect Sourcing team, implementing cost-reducing strategies, ensuring compliance with procurement policies, managing supplier relationships, negotiating contracts, and overseeing procurement activities to meet savings targets while supporting the overall strategy of the Global Strategic Sourcing organization.
This position is part of the Global Sourcing team located in Deer Park, Illinois and will be onsite. At Leica Biosystems, our vision is to advance cancer diagnostics and improve lives.
You will be a part of the Global Sourcing organization and report to the Sr. Director Global Sourcing, responsible for implementing innovative strategies and processes to reduce costs, improve quality, and ensure the continuity of supply for goods and services. In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
+ Lead and provide technical expertise to a team of procurement professionals in executing procurement processes, monitoring supply markets, identifying critical materials and services, and supporting internal stakeholders in their procurement needs to achieve cost savings objectives
+ Drive targeted, sustainable improvements in Supplier On-Time Delivery, Margin Expansion, Working Capital turns, Inventory, and related KPI’s/objectives using advanced knowledge of lean tools, continuous improvement methodologies, facilitation skills, change management, and creative procurement strategies for vendor selection and contract agreements
+ Manage relationships with relevant cross-functional leaders such as Product Management, Finance, Service, Sales, etc. to resolve parts supply or quality issues and to improve expense efficiency by optimizing process and supplier base
+ Collaborate with the legal team to lead complex contract negotiations, ensuring transparency and compliance with applicable laws, regulations, sustainable procurement practices, and company policies
+ Oversee sustainable and measurable corporate purchasing programs and monitoring adherence to budgets
+ Support team in formulating and testing effective data-based strategy for winning against the competition or exceeding expectations as a team, considering items such as forecasts, availability of materials, and manufacturing capacity
+ Coach the team on how to effectively manage and anticipate changing needs for resources, and how to flex resource allocation in the face of changing circumstances
The essential requirements of the job include:
+ Bachelor’s degree in relevant areas such as supply chain, business management, operations, or finance
+ Minimum of seven years of relevant experience (e.g., sourcing, buying, or procurement) with strong knowledge of procurement best practices, strategic sourcing, and supplier relationship management
+ Proven experience managing remote global teams
+ Excellent negotiation, financial acumen, influence, and contract management skills to encourage collaboration while driving lower costs, superior performance, and continuous improvement with demonstrated results
+ Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional individuals and teams, create buy in from relevant stakeholders, and influence key decisions
+ Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and make fact-based decisions by incorporating diverse feedback from a variety of stakeholders and integrate information by leveraging appropriate productivity tools
Travel, Motor Vehicle Record & Physical/Environment Requirements:
+ Ability to travel - must be able to travel up to 25% of the time, domestic and international. Overnight travel will be required.
+ Must have a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
+ Ability to lift, move or carry equipment up to 20 lbs
It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:
+ MBA or other relevant degree/certification (e.g., CSCMP SCPro or ISM CPSM) highly desirable
+ Experience applying lean tools and continuous improvement methodologies in a manufacturing environment, such as 5S, Standard Work, KANBAN, Policy Deployment, Value Stream Management, Visual Management, SAP etc.
+ Supply chain or operations experience in Biotech, Pharmaceutical, Medical Devices or Healthcare industries
The salary range for this role is $135,000 to $165,000. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.
This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
