Summary
**SUMMARY** : The Urologist examines, diagnoses, and treats, by surgical means, injuries and disorders of the genitourinary tract.
**DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS** : NOTE: Following are the duties performed by employees in this classification. However, employees may perform other related duties at an equivalent level. Not all duties listed are necessarily performed by each individual in the classification.
1. Prepares and reviews case histories and obtains data through interviews.
2. Examines patients and determines x-ray examinations and laboratory tests required.
3. Interprets test results and evaluates examination findings.
4. Directs nurses in procedures for preoperative and postoperative care, such as administering sedatives, prescribing diets, and preparing operative area of patient.
5. Applies surgical procedures and coordinates operation with the anesthesiologist.
6. Administers and prescribes such conservative measures of treatment as antibiotics, drugs, and compresses.
7. Treats patients suffering from surgical complications and appropriately consults other services as needed.
8. Advises on quality of urological surgery services with other medical activities.
9. Instructs interns and residents in urological surgery procedures.
10. Provides on-call services on a regular basis involving evaluation of/consultation for urgent or emergent urological conditions on inpatients and patients being treated in the emergency department.
11. Assist the Chief of Urology in the planning and coordination of Urology services.
**MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS** :
Education: Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) is required.
Required Licenses/Certifications: Current status as board-eligible or board-certified by the American Board of Urology. Board certification is required if the applicant completed residency more than 5 years ago.
Required Licenses/Certifications: Possession of a valid license to practice medicine in the State of California.
Current California fluoroscopy operator’s license.
Valid DEA license
Pay Range: $229.52-$239.72 / Hour
_The pay range for this position reflects the base pay scale for the role at Alameda Health System. Final compensation will be determined based on several factors, including but not limited to a candidate’s experience, education, skills, licensure, and certifications, departmental equity, applicable collective bargaining agreements, and the operational needs of the organization.
