Description
The Materials Management Supervisor oversees all aspects of supply chain operations within Materials Management, ensuring the timely and efficient flow of supplies, linen, and equipment across UCLA Health facilities. This includes supervision of logistics staff, managing inventory, maintaining PAR levels, and supporting patient care units and procedural areas.
Responsibilities:
+ Supervise and train logistics staff to ensure productivity and task completion across assigned shifts
+ Oversee product issues, transitions, and resolution processes
+ Assign routes and allocate tasks to staff for department operations and maintenance
+ Ensure excellent customer service and meet department service standards
+ Manage supply inventory, including ordering, receiving, distributing, and maintaining appropriate backup stock
+ Replenish inventory using supply chain management systems, handheld devices, or third-party tools
+ Perform physical inventory counts, maintain accurate documentation, and input data
+ Assess and adjust PAR levels to meet changing supply demands
+ Stock, clean, and organize inventory holding rooms and related areas
+ Distribute linen, supplies, and equipment throughout the health system per established procedures
+ Collaborate with clinical teams in procedural, interventional, and radiology areas to understand supply needs and preferences
+ Set up or modify inventory items within supply management software systems
+ Reconcile packing slips with orders and deliveries
+ Support inventory cost-saving initiatives and recommend process improvements
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
+ Minimum of 5 years of experience in Materials Management or Supply Chain, including prior supervisory experience
+ Demonstrated ability to succeed in a fast-paced, high-volume environment as a proactive self-starter
+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, with the ability to provide and follow detailed instructions
+ Strong interpersonal and organizational skills with a proven commitment to exceptional customer service
+ Advanced computer proficiency, including experience with Materials Management Information Systems (MMIS) and related software applications
+ Skilled in process analysis and improvement, with a collaborative, team-oriented approach
+ High attention to detail with experience in data entry, spreadsheet management, and report generation
+ Proficient in basic math and inventory-related calculations (e.g., replenishment metrics, units of measure, package counts)
+ Ability to manage strict deadlines and follow protocols with consistency and accountability
+ Familiarity with University policies, infection control practices, and relevant regulatory requirements
+ Experience with hospital-based MMIS systems is strongly preferred
+ Valid driver's license and a clean driving record in accordance with UCLA Health or UC system policy; enrollment in the California Employer Pull Notice Program may be required
Physical Requirements:
+ Ability to lift, carry, and transport items weighing up to 50 pounds
+ Ability to push and pull linen carts weighing up to 400 pounds
+ Capable of performing manual tasks such as stocking, organizing, and moving supplies throughout the facility
