General Summary
The person in this position advises, organizes, and is responsible for applicants for the Nursing and Health Science programs. This person is generally the first contact for potential students and so guides them through admission, course choices, and graduation. Job responsibilities also include generating and being responsible for data for these programs for evaluation, curriculum, and program assessment purposes. This person is the voice and advocate of WTAMU Nursing for these students.
Responsibilities:
+ Supports the College of Nursing Health Science programs
+ Advises students by telephone and in person
+ Reviews transcripts and processes course substitution forms as necessary
+ Processes applications
+ Is a member of the Admissions Committee and presents student applications to the committee
+ Initiates Student Planning for each student, which includes greenlighting, registration when necessary, and planning course sequencing
+ Is responsible for file folders for each student
+ Creates and is responsible for various databases/spreadsheets used for evaluation, curriculum, and program assessment purposes
+ Assists with scholarship program and rebate program
+ Is responsible for and plans recruiting events in the Panhandle and West Texas areas
+ Completes reports on programs/projects. Plans and coordinates events including accommodations, itineraries, meals, speakers, and maintains records.
+ Advises students by telephone and in person
+ Processes applications
+ Is a member of the Admissions Committee and presents student applications to the committee
+ Initiates Student Planning for each student, which includes greenlighting, registration when necessary, and planning course sequencing
+ Enters data in Typhon software program for FNP students
+ Is responsible for file folders for each student
+ Creates and is responsible for various databases/spreadsheets used for evaluation, curriculum, and program assessment purposes
+ Maintains handbook edits/changes/updates.
Performs miscellaneous duties
+ Updates Department of Nursing web pages
+ When the administrative associate is not in the office, answers department telephone calls and is responsible for the outgoing and incoming mail
+ Orders EBI surveys and uploads data
+ Enters faculty and staff PINs in the copy machine
+ Checks Nursing email inbox and processes information requests
+ Assists in developing communication plans and strategies to reach prospective students in all nursing programs.
+ Assists in developing communication plans and strategies to support current stake holders and supports to nursing program
+ Tracks and follows up with targeted students.
+ Organizes, implements, and develops new high impact programs designed to recruit students through departmental collaboration.
+ Provides specialized admission sessions and presentations to a wide variety of on and off campus groups.
+ May supervise graduate students or other assistants assigned to assists in performance responsibilities.

Necessary Qualifications:
+ Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
+ One (1) year advising students in higher education or equivalency
+ Computer skills
+ Professional Communication Skills
+ Ability to multi-task
+ Strong organizational and time management skills
+ Ability to work with sensitive information and maintain confidentiality
+ Work cooperatively with others
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Master’s Degree
+ Three (3) years of related experience
+ Teaching IDS courses
