    Job Descriptions:

    New England Cancer Specialists (NECS is currently seeking a full-time 40hr/5 day Certified Medical Assistant to join our New Westbrook, ME Rock Rock location. The Survivorship& High Risk Medical Assistant will be cross-trained to perform both administrative and clinical duties. They participate with the surgical team to coordinate efficient patient flow through the practice and are essential team members. The day of the patient’s visit, the MA will be the first line of facilitating proper patient flow throughout the office. They perform essential job functions as listed below.

     

    NECS is a private medical practice composed of 18 oncologists and hematologists serving the region from five separate locations in Maine and New Hampshire.     The new Rock Row Campus represents a unique collaboration between New England Cancer Specialists (NECS) and our patients, thoughtfully designed to create a comfortable and inviting home for excellent oncology care in New England. This state-of-the-art facility brings together a comprehensive range of services under one roof, including surgery, medical oncology, radiation oncology, genetic counseling, survivorship programs, nutrition support, and behavioral health counseling. Every detail of the campus reflects a commitment to patient-centered care, ensuring that individuals and their families feel supported throughout their cancer journey in a warm and welcoming environment.

    Job Duties:

    + Responsible for the setup of examination rooms including preparing the room, ordering/stocking supplies, and maintaining cleanliness..

    + Notify patients with all results (labs/scans/diagnostic procedures) if a visit does not align with results (when appropriate, MD/RN will notify patient of abnormal findings). Normal results may be delivered to the patient via phone, Carespace or letter.

    + Assist with In-body and Grip Strength Assessments.

    + Triage calls through the dash using the RN as a resource.

    + Monitor CareSpace messages using the RN as a resource.

    + Use portals to assist in the ordering of specialty tests like Signatera, Grail, Cologuard, monitoring for results and notifying patients of results.

    + Send discharge letters to PCP with recommendations as outlined by providers to offices for patients who are no longer followed by the Survivorship or High Risk Clinic.

    + Manage refills, prescription needs under MD supervision.

    + Coordinate care with Financial Advocates for financial constraints or food insecurity.

    + Assist PCC in moving patients to accommodate time-sensitive referrals.

    + Obtain physician signatures on home health PT/OT orders, faxing back to provider office.

    + Use professional judgment in disclosing information obtained from clients and operates under HIPAA guidelines.

     

    Work Week: Monday- Friday

    Required Experience:

    + A Degree or Certificate in Medical Assisting from an accredited school is required.

    + You must have one of the following credentials or be able to obtain one of the following credentials, based upon the credentialing organizations' eligibility requirements within 90 days of hire:

    + Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) from the AAMA, American Association of Medical Assistants

    + Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) from AMT, American Medical Technologists

    + Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) from NHA, National Health Career Association.

    + National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) from NCCT, National Center for Competency Testing.

    + Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) from ARMA, American Registry of Medical Assistants

    + National registered Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA) from the NAHP, National Association of Health Professionals.

    + Experience with, and the ability to understand patient medical records, physician’s orders, and medical orders is required.

    + Understand and conduct yourself per accepted clinical standards and the ability to maintain strict HIPAA compliance.

    + A high level of oral and written communication skills and typing skills are required.

    + Must be adaptable to being in front of patients or able to work at workstations outside the clinic.
