Job Summary and Qualifications

As a work from home Cancer Registry Team Lead, you will be responsible for day-to-day operational activities as it relates to Cancer Registry services provided to hospitals according to the Service Level Agreement with the Cancer Registry Shared Services.

What you will do in this role:

+ Provides general directions to Cancer Registry staff in case-finding, and abstraction.

+ Assists Cancer Registry Leadership in the review and improvement of processes and services.

+ Completes quality control monitoring and reporting of completed abstracts for accuracy and timeliness.

+ Assists with case abstracting according to the standards of the Commission on Cancer (CoC) and the appropriate State Central Cancer Registry.

+ Prepares the National Cancer Data Base (NCDB) Annual Call for Data export file to ensure all edits have been cleared prior to submission.

+ Submits data monthly to the appropriate State Central Cancer Registry.

+ Resolves errors resulting in the rejection of records from the NCDB and State Central Cancer Registry.

+ Assists in employee training and development.

+ Coordinates and/or performs productivity and quality reviews of team’s work.

+ Reports to the manager and/or director periodically on team and individual work accomplishments, problems, progress in mastering tasks and work processes, and individual and team training needs.

+ Monitors established productivity and quality standards.

Qualifications

+ High School diploma or equivalency required

+ 3 years of abstracting experience required

+ 4 or more years of abstracting experience and/or HIM-related supervisory experience strongly preferred

+ Certified Tumor Register (CTR) certification required; Oncology Data Specialist (ODS) certification required in lieu of CTR
