The Idaho Infant Toddler program is recruiting for a Developmental Specialist in our Caldwell location. The Infant Toddler Program provides Part C services and Early Intervention to families with children- ages birth through 3 years old. Our Early Interventionists work with families to identify the settings and everyday activities that are unique to each family and work on goals that are the parent/caregiver priorities for their child. We provide family coaching, developmental therapy, speech therapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy, service coordination, PLAY Project, Infant Mental Health, vision, and hearing support.

This position may be eligible for telework after successful completion of probation and necessary training. Approval to telecommute is not guaranteed and subject to termination at any time.

The Idaho Department of Health & Welfare is a drug-free workplace. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES:

+ Evaluate infants and toddlers with potential delays or disabilities to assist in determining eligibility for services.

+ Plan and implement early intervention services with families/caregivers to support participation and progressive development of infants and toddlers within their natural environments.

+ Provide consultation and coaching to families, professionals, and associated parties related to child development.

+ Select, administer, analyze, and interpret assessment instruments to determine children's skill development in areas of gross motor, fine motor, cognitive, social and emotional, adaptive/self-help, and communication.

+ Conduct intervention sessions with caregivers in child's natural learning environments, using regularly occurring routines and activities as curriculum. Participate in collaborative teaming opportunities.

+ Requires travel to rural areas to provide services to children with developmental delays or disabilities and their families in homes and other community settings.

+ Model and apply effective evidence-based practices related to the birth to age 3 population, adult learning methods, and teaming.

+ Complete or maintain appropriate documentation for each child assessed and for those who are supported with ongoing early intervention services.

+ Complete vision and hearing screens.

+ Engage in annual ongoing professional development activities and trainings.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

You must possess all the minimum qualifications below to pass the exam for this position. + Item 1: Exceptional Child Certificate with Special Education Early Childhood Special Education Endorsement or an Elementary Education Certificate (K-12) with Early Childhood Special Education Endorsement or a Blended Early Childhood/Early Childhood Special Education Certificate.

OR:

+ Item 2: Completed Bachelor's or Master's degree from an accredited college or university in one of the following required degree fields: special education, elementary education, speech-language pathology, early childhood education, physical therapy, psychology, social work, or nursing AND a minimum of 24 credits in Early Childhood Special Education that specifically address the following EC/ECSE standards: Promoting Development and Learning for Children Birth to 3; Building Family and Community Relationship to Support Early Interventions and Early Education; Observing, Documenting and Assessing to Support Young Families and Children; Using Developmentally Effective Approaches for Early Learning; Content and Knowledge in Early Education and Early Childhood Special Education; and Building Meaningful Curriculum, to Include Development of IFSPs and IEPs. Note: A Bachelor of Applied Science does not meet the degree requirements for this position.

OR:

+ Item 3: (Under a conditional hiring agreement). Completed Bachelor's or Master's degree from an accredited college or university in one of the previously described required degree fields and agreement and reasonable ability to complete a minimum of 24 credits with content in required Early Childhood Special Education standards within three years. Note: A Bachelor of Applied Science does not meet the degree requirements for this position.

Below is preferred experience. It is not required for the position but applicants with this experience may receive consideration over other applicants.

+ Preschool and or infant toddler classroom experience.Typically gained through a minimum of one year being in a daycare/classroom.
