Position Summary

In support of Morehouse School of Medicine’s Vision: “Leading the creation and advancement of health equity,” the Department of Information Technology is seeking a Director of Decision Support Systems and Data Analytics. This position is responsible for leading the data analytics strategy, overseeing a team of analysts, developing data infrastructure, and extracting actionable insights from organizational data to inform critical business decisions. The Director also ensures that data quality and governance practices are implemented across the IT landscape to drive operational efficiency and strategic planning.

Minimum Qualifications

+ Bachelor’s degree in computer information systems, Business Intelligence, Data Science, or a related field from a regionally accredited institution.

Preferred Qualifications

+ Master’s degree in computer information systems, Business Intelligence, Data Science or a related field from a regionally accredited institution.

+ Data Analytics from a higher education or medical school.

Job Duties

Description of Job Duty

+ Led and manage the medical school’s business intelligence and data analytics team to deliver high-quality insights and reports.

+ Develop and implement data-driven strategies to support the growth of educational programs and research initiatives and improve operational efficiency.

+ Design and implement robust data warehousing and data lake architectures to store and manage large datasets.

+ Ensure seamless data integration across various systems and data sources.

+ Evaluate and implement new data analytics tools and technologies to enhance capabilities.

+ Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including faculty, administrative staff, and research departments, to identify and translate institutional needs into data solutions.

+ Utilize advanced analytics techniques to uncover trends, patterns, and insights that inform strategic decision-making within the medical school.

+ Ensure data integrity and accuracy through effective data management practices tailored to the medical school environment.

+ Drive innovation and continuous improvement in data analytics methodologies and tools to support the MSM’s mission.

+ Communicate complex data findings clearly and promptly to stakeholders at all levels, including deans, faculty, and external partners.

Immunization Requirements

It is MSM’s Immunization policy that all Prospective Employees are encouraged to provide proof that they are vaccinated against COVID -19 prior to commencement of employment. If employment will commence during Flu Season, MSM requires all individuals to provide proof that they are vaccinated against Seasonal Influenza for the current Flu Season, unless granted an exemption. Failure to provide proof of vaccination for any required vaccines or obtain an exemption from MSM will result in rescission of a candidate’s offer of employment or disciplinary action up to and including termination.
