Description

We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join our team in Rockford, Illinois. In this role, you will oversee critical accounting functions, ensuring accuracy and compliance in financial reporting. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented individual with a strong background in general accounting and financial systems.

Construction or project based industry experience is ideal.

Responsibilities:

• Perform account reconciliations, including balance sheet and bank reconciliations, to ensure accuracy and compliance.

• Manage general ledger activities, ensuring all entries are recorded properly and in a timely manner.

• Prepare journal entries and review financial statements to support month-end closing processes.

• Oversee the month-end close process, ensuring all deadlines are met and financial data is accurate.

• Utilize accounting software such as NetSuite, Oracle, or SAP to manage financial data and reporting.

• Collaborate with project teams to provide financial oversight on construction projects, including certified payroll.

• Ensure compliance with accounting standards and company policies in all financial activities.

• Analyze financial data to identify trends, discrepancies, or areas for improvement.

• Support audits by preparing documentation and responding to inquiries from auditors.

Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting, with a focus on general ledger and reconciliations.

• Strong knowledge of month-end close processes and journal entry preparation.

• Familiarity with certified payroll and accounting for construction projects.

• Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills.

• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

• Strong communication skills to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
