Description We are looking for a meticulous and dedicated Accountant to join our team on a contract basis in River Rouge, Michigan. In this role, you will play a key part in managing financial processes within an educational setting, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency. The ideal candidate will bring strong experience in accounting operations, particularly in accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), and financial reconciliation, along with advanced technical skills in Excel.

Responsibilities:

• Process and manage accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR), including vendor communications, invoice handling, and timely payment processing.

• Conduct monthly bank and account reconciliations to maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records.

• Oversee credit card transactions and ensure proper reconciliation of related charges and payments.

• Assist in preparing and monitoring budgets, tracking expenditures, and analyzing variances against budget goals.

• Coordinate and prepare documentation for annual audits, ensuring compliance with all relevant standards and deadlines.

• Maintain detailed records of fixed assets, including acquisitions, depreciation schedules, and disposals.

• Utilize advanced Excel functions, such as Pivot Tables and VLOOKUPs, to analyze financial data and generate insightful reports. Requirements • A minimum of 3-5 years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a school or nonprofit environment preferred.

• Strong expertise in accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), and financial reconciliation processes.

• Proficiency in using advanced Excel functions, including Pivot Tables and VLOOKUPs.

• Familiarity with enterprise accounting systems or nonprofit-specific financial software is a plus.

• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail to ensure accuracy in financial records.

• Ability to prepare and manage budgets, as well as assist in audit processes.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders.
