    Position Description

    Primary purpose: • Responsible for the safe, efficient operation of the Dore and Sidney Rail Terminals and the reliability of rail terminal equipment, measurement practices, and compliance with safety O&M, Operating, PSM, DOT, FRA and environmental policies and procedures.

     

    Essential duties and responsibilities: • Inspects all aspects of operations within the area assigned. • Maintains work schedules, employee time card approval and on call schedules for the area assigned. • Reviews daily reports for accuracy. • Receives callouts as needed to keep operation running and uninterrupted as much as possible. • Schedules pipeline pigging operations. • Reports all safety and environmental issues to manager. • Understands and develops good safety habits. • Maintains company vehicle and equipment ensuring they are in safe operating condition. • Maintains a safe work environment. Wears proper PPE for the task and sets a good example for others. • Seeks out new ways of doing things with safety, O&M procedures and efficiency in mind. • Supports maintenance group with help where help can be utilized (i.e., running parts and having equipment ready for service and/or repair). • Develops the employees' skills to increase the areas operating performance, such as safety, environmental, regulatory, operations, maintenance, equipment, facilities, and team participation. • Keeps lines of communication open between direct reports, company personnel and manager. • Develops and maintains a budget for a cost-effective approach to doing business. • Assures that all DOT records and inspections are completed, current and up to date. • Assures that all railcars and loading operations are in line with operating procedures and FRA standards. • Understands product shipping/receiving, railcar movements within the yard, switching tracks, railcar ordering and releasing. • Reports all excessive downtime to appropriate people. • Completes appropriate documentation and paperwork. • Assists managing yearly budgets and capital projects. • Presents weekly safety meetings to the work group. • Conducts and participates in various types of field and facility audits. • Ensures all assigned LMS, Maximo, OPSINFO, PSM, DOT OQ items are completed on schedule. • Keeps safety, O&Ms and Operating procedures in the forefront of every task performed. • Helps out in other areas of operations and business as needed. • Other duties as assigned.

    Position Requirements

    Experience/specific knowledge: • Experienced in railcar loading facilities • General knowledge of processing plant operations and product shipping/receiving • General computer skills (i.e., Excel, Word, PowerPoint) • Working knowledge of mechanical equipment • Knowledge and experience in safe handling practices of flammable gases, liquids, and high pressure systems • Follows company policies, practices, and regulatory requirements

     

    Preferred education, experience, competencies, skills and abilities: • PSM, DOT, OQ, FRA

     

    Certifications, licenses, registrations: • Valid state operating license with a driving record insurable under company insurance policy

     

    Competencies, skills, and abilities: • Good verbal and written communication skills • Customer/contractor orientation • Ability to effectively present information in a one-on-one and group situations to other employees of the company and outside contractors • Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, decimals) • Apply common sense understanding to carry out day-to-day operations and resolve issues • Ability to make quick and reasonable decisions in sometimes-adverse conditions

May work in a standing, sitting, lying down, crouched, bending or kneeling position. • Routinely reacts to visual, aural and other signals, including alarms and instructions, and is required to visually inspect work. • Regularly bends, stoops, moves from ground level to higher levels, raises/lifts from ground level a load up to 50 lbs., manually transports a load up to 75 lbs., and applies up to 150 foot pounds of torque. • Regularly gets into and out of vehicles and rides over rough roads. • Walks an average of 5 miles per day, up to 7 miles per day. • Candidates may be subject to Department of Transportation (DOT) drug and alcohol testing requirements. • Callouts and shift coverage.
