    Summary This position will be assigned to the JBSA Fort Sam Houston Fitness Center, in San Antonio, TX. This is a regular part-time category position with guaranteed 20 hours per week, may work up to 40 hrs./week. Employees appointed to a regular category position are eligible for benefits. Responsibilities Perform and/or assist in the operation and maintenance of the indoor and outdoor fitness facilities. Duties include but not limited to: provide assistance and basic instruction to patrons in the proper use of exercise machines and equipment; set up fitness areas for scheduled activities; serve in the capacity of front desk attendant and operate a POS system; enforce fitness center policies, make reservations for court space, classes or use of equipment; follow proper procedures for issuing equipment and inspect/document any damage when returned; maintain cleanliness of fitness facilities IAW facility cleaning checklists; perform opening and closing facility procedures IAW facility checklist and perform all other assigned duties. Will report to Operations Manager, Fitness Coordinator and/or Fitness Center Director. Lifeguard duties: Observe conduct of DoD civilians, military personnel, their dependents, and the guests while in the pool area. Ensure compliance with established safety procedures to prevent accidents. Watch swimmers for indicators of fatigue or ill health and ensure all safety and sanitary precautions are met. Enforce general rules of good conduct and expel patrons whose conduct constitutes a hazard or nuisance. Act promptly to rescue and resuscitate near-drowning victims. Rescue such personnel using Red Cross approved techniques and call 911. Disseminate information to patrons regarding hours of operation, Air Force regulations, pool rules, safety precautions, etc. Ensure authorized entry into the pool area by checking pool passes, collecting fees, and controlling sign-in rosters. Participate in general maintenance and repairs of pools and facilities. Conduct positive interactions with pool patrons while enforcing rules and regulations, answering questions, and addressing customer complaints.
