Department: Recovery and Wellness Center (Recovery House/Therapeutic shelter)
Reports To: Program Director
The Program Manager is responsible for supervising the work of the Milieu Counseling staff and ensuring that the services delivered are client-centered and in accordance with CSHHC guidelines. The Program Manager is responsible for staff scheduling and supervision, ensuring adequate coverage, identifying and providing training as needed. The Program Manager is responsible for facilitating individual and weekly staff supervision/meetings. The Program Manager will also work as part of the interdisciplinary treatment team and participate in client interventions, assist with implementation of individual care plan and facilitation of the therapeutic environment as well as assessment, individual, group and/or family therapy. The Program Manager will facilitate milieu groups including social, recreational, 12-step meetings and other groups as deemed necessary.
The Program Manager must have the ability to relate to unhoused men and women with substance use disorders, mental health issues, and other special needs. They must have knowledge of de-escalation techniques, addiction treatment and mental health disorder treatments and crisis management skills. The safety, service and rights of our residents is a priority, as is delivering excellent customer care.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
+ Manages the recruitment, onboarding, and training of milieu staff to create an environment of teamwork and accountability.
+ Ensures milieu staff compliance with all CSHHC policies and procedures.
+ Conducts annual or biennial performance evaluations of milieu staff as required by CSHHC policy.
+ Conducts department-specific orientation, education and training for milieu staff.
+ Approves staff timecards and time-off requests and administers performance improvement activities and corrective action when necessary.
+ Mentors, supervises and evaluates milieu staff as part of the interdisciplinary treatment team, in the performance of their required duties and adherence to appropriate policies, regulatory requirements, and best practice guidelines.
+ Oversee staff schedule to ensure proper coverage at all times.
+ Provides supervision (individual and weekly) and opportunities for staff training and development.
+ Oversees and identifies opportunities for program development and enhancement to the milieu, including assisting with individual interventions and daily skill building opportunities.
+ Oversees and facilitates psychoeducational and psychotherapy groups as directed including but not limited to social, recreational, 12-step meetings, reproductive health education, community resources and other groups as needed.
+ Supervises activities of daily living and serves as mentor/role model with focus on skill building (hygiene, chores, organizational and communication skills).
+ Provides therapeutic interventions to residents individually or as group when needed in order to provide support.
+ Identifies and reports to team when clients are having difficulties within the milieu and seeks to reduce or ameliorate those barriers.
+ Responsible for the safety and security of clients and the milieu.
+ Identifies and manages crises or conflict using de-escalation techniques.
+ Identifies client crisis (addiction and mental health) and seek emergency assistance as needed.
+ Assesses for acute intoxication or withdraw symptoms.
+ Monitors day, evening and night shift as assigned and enforces rules fairly and consistently.
+ Oversee medication self-administration process
+ Facilitates and monitors evacuation of site during fire drills and emergencies.
+ Keeps accurate client logs, shift change reports, incident reports and other information pertinent to program operation.
+ Required to remain on-shift (holdover) to cover unplanned schedule change, absence, or event which cannot be covered other than having a staff member remain on duty into the next shift.
+ Assists in covering other staff as needed.
+ Ensures excellent customer service
+ Responsible for on-going communication/updating the Program Director/Designee on all clinical and administrative matters
+ Develop and identify workflows to improve efficiency, capture data and meet contractual obligations
+ Ensures required documentation is complete, timely and accurate at all times
+ Track and submit all required DDAP reports.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must also demonstrate the following competencies and skill sets:
Qualifications:
Education: Master’s Degree in a Behavioral Health field required; Licensed highly preferred, license eligibility required. May consider bachelor’s or master’s degree with relevant experience. Experience: A minimum of three (3) years’ experience working within the substance abuse field and within a supervisory role desirable. Must possess a valid CT driver’s license.
Knowledge/Abilities: Knowledge of substance use and mental health disorders. Excellent interpersonal skills, organizational skills, decision making skills and written and verbal communication are essential. Ability to multitask and prioritize with minimal supervision. Effective people skills, both in person and via telephone, are required. General computer skills. Must demonstrate age specific/population competencies in areas of practice (in communicating with clients). Sensitive to special populations. CPR/BLS certification. Narcan / overdose education and training. Required to remain on-shift (holdover) to cover unplanned schedule change, absence, or event which cannot be covered other than having a staff member remain on duty into the next shift.
