Associate Counsel Personal Injury Protection (PIP) and No-Fault Collections

Job Overview:

RWJBarnabas Health is seeking a highly motivated Associate Counsel to join our Legal Department, focusing exclusively on Personal Injury Protection (PIP) and No-Fault Collections matters. The ideal candidate will assist with case management, litigation support, and recovery efforts related to PIP claims. A strong understanding of healthcare billing and insurance processes is essential. Certification as a medical coder (CPC or equivalent) is preferred to support the accurate interpretation of medical records and billing documentation.

Qualifications:

+ Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

+ Admission to the New Jersey Bar (or eligibility).

+ Prior experience with PIP, no-fault claims, or healthcare collections is strongly preferred.

+ Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or equivalent certification preferred.

+ Excellent legal writing, organizational, and analytical skills.

Essential Functions:

+ Manage and support PIP and no-fault collection files from intake through resolution.

+ Conduct legal research, draft pleadings, motions, and settlement documentation.

+ Review and analyze medical records and billing statements for accuracy and support of claims.

+ Communicate with insurance carriers, healthcare providers, and internal stakeholders.

+ Assist attorneys in preparation for hearings, arbitrations, and negotiations.
