Title: Retail and Events Coordinator
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Department: Events
Reports to: Events Supervisor
Purpose of Position
To advance the mission and programs of the Animal Rescue League of Iowa (ARL) by successfully coordinating retail spaces including the Animal House, Second Chance Ranch Tack Shop, and other off-site retail events and spaces.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
+ Conduct purchasing in a tactful manor.
+ Implement purchasing strategy to ensure best purchasing practices are utilized.
+ Manage all facets of the onsite retail store including inventory, marketing, displays, online sales and fulfillment, and other related tasks, as needed.
+ Support the adoption team by finalizing payments for adoptions.
+ Responsible for meeting financial and strategic goals by executing retail fundraising events such as DNA Days, Puzzle Demo Days, Kitten Shower, Online Retail Events, and others, as directed.
+ Lead and execute off-site retail booths including Iowa State Fair, Pet Expo, and others as-opportunities arise.
+ Facilitate other fundraising objectives such as birthdays and others as needed..
+ Collaborate with the Marketing team to promote retail items, sales, and events.
+ Collaborate with the Marketing and Events teams to develop new product ideas and designs for ARL branded merchandise such as apparel, Happy Tail calendars, and others, as needed.
+ Collaborate with the Events team for selecting, promoting, and fulfilling retail needs.
+ Communicate effectively with the departments to execute organizational supply purchases, specific to retail, as needed.
+ Research, develop, and maintain vendor relationships to ensure the best purchasing agreements.
+ Provide exceptional customer service and provide necessary customer service training to staff/volunteers.
+ Manage point of sale system including entry, inventory, and other processes to maintain clean and accurate data.
+ Analyze shrinkage (loss), sales, and inventory to ensure financial goals are met.
+ Perform any and all other duties, as assigned.
Supervisory Duties:
+ N/A
Education and/or Experience
+ High School Diploma or GED, required.
+ Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in related major, preferred.
+ Minimum 1 year of related work experience in retail or sales, required.
+ Minimum 1 year of related work experience in management experience, preferred.
Qualifications
+ Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record, required.
+ Must be able to function in a fast-paced and stressful environment.
+ Must possess excellent customer service, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills and be able to resolve conflict effectively.
+ Must possess a high degree of professionalism and the ability to treat confidential information appropriately.
+ Ability to performance basic mathematical skills.
+ Accurate and fast typing, required.
+ Proficient in accurate spelling and grammar.
+ Experience in budgeting, preferred.
+ Proficient in Microsoft Suite.
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions
+ Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
+ Ability to work outdoors in high heat or cold environment on occasion.
+ Work may expose employee to odors, diseases of animals that are possibly contagious, bites, scratches, animal waste, and moderate noise level.
+ Must be able to stand and sit for long periods of time.
Tuesday - Saturday 9a-6p occasional late nights & some weekends
