    Job Title: Clinical Nurse Leader

     

    Department: Operating Room

     

    Hours Per Week: Full Time, 40 Hours

     

    Schedule: Monday through Friday 7a-330p; On-call rotation.

    SUMMARY:

    As a Clinical Nurse Leader, your strong ability to lead and your clinical expertise serve as valuable resources for staff mentoring and delivery of quality patient care. You will provide both clinical care to patients and direct oversight of day-to-day responsibilities of nursing team members. The CNL drives the staff to provide an exceptional experience for the patient and family.

     

    Operating Room

     

    The OR at Unity Hospital has 14 Operating Room Suites, including four Endoscopic suites for advanced laparoscopic procedures. The OR specializes in 12 service lines to include Ear, Nose, Throat, General Surgery, Gynecological, Ophthalmology, Orthopedics, Plastics & Reconstructive, Podiatry, Thoracic, Urology, Vascular, Colorectal and Neurosurgery/Spine.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    + Leadership & Management. Assume responsibility for overseeing nursing and non-nursing personnel on a unit; function as a unit leader with the ability to act as a resource (both clinically and non-clinically) for nursing personnel, physicians and providers; delegate appropriate responsibilities to assigned nurses and ancillary personnel; assess clinical expertise of nursing personnel, monitor assignments and provide feedback and documentation.

    + Patient Care. Perform initial and ongoing assessment of patient; demonstrate clinical judgment in responding to priority patient needs; communicate and document assessment of patient; develop and document plan of care, treatment and services; communicate with the patient/family and interdisciplinary team; ensure patient receives and understands education specific to their needs and abilities.

    + General Management. Perform daily leader rounding and assure team members are regularly rounding on all patients; develop programs and strategies to monitor the quality of patient care and patient outcomes; assist Nurse Manager in developing and implementing long-term staffing pattern, personnel needs, budget negotiation and recruitment plan.

    + Serves as a resource for clinical expertise and mentoring/coaching of staff.

    + Facilitates the delivery of quality patient care through strong critical thinking skills, open communication and collaboration with the interdisciplinary health team.

    + Provides high-quality, patient-centered clinical care.

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    + Diploma or Associate’s Degree in Nursing

    + Registered Nurse license in New York State.

    + Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

    + 1-3 years of experience as a Registered Nurse in acute care OR.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    + Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred.

    + Demonstrated leadership qualities and behaviors preferred.

    EDUCATION:

    LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS:

    BLS - Basic Life Support - American Heart Association (AHA), RN - Registered Nurse - New York State Education Department (NYSED)

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    M - Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting.

    $41.60 - $54.34

    The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for a successful full time applicant. It may be modified in the future and eligible for additional pay components. Pay is determined by factors including experience, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
