    Who we’re looking for

     

    Toyota’s North American Security & Emergency Management Department is looking for a passionate and highly motivated **General Manager.**

     

    The primary responsibility of this role is to provide strategic leadership and direction for the North American Security & Emergency Management department.

     

    Reporting to the Senior Vice President of Enterprise Integrity, the person in this role will support the department's objective to provide for the protection of our team members and facilities from preventable harm or danger.

     

    The successful candidate will be adept at building trust and confidence with all levels of the organization, as well as influencing key stakeholders. The person in this role will have strong strategic thinking skills, and proven ability to and interest in staying abreast of risk trends, identify and address issues, drive reflection activities and to cultivate a mindset of continuous improvement.

     

    This position is based at our North American headquarters in Plano, Texas. The selected candidate will be expected to reside within commutable distance of this location.

    What you’ll be doing

    + Lead the development and execution of a comprehensive security and safety strategy across 50+ locations (ranging from a few hundred employees to large locations with over 10,000 employees), ensuring robust protection of employees and assets while adhering to the highest industry standards for safety and compliance. Includes facilitating the security of senior executives and C-suite.

    + Provide visionary leadership to a national management team, overseeing a dedicated workforce of 900 security and fire management professionals, fostering a culture of accountability, excellence, and operational alignment with corporate objectives.

    + Direct and synchronize critical departmental functions, leveraging deep expertise in security and emergency management to ensure national programs effectively enhance and support regional operational teams across diverse geographical locations.

    + Lead the optimization of security labor market strategies, including advanced understanding of SOP/job instruction sheet (JIS) application and outsourced staffing models, ensuring operational efficiency, compliance, and alignment with long-term business goals.

    + Cultivate relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including key leadership and vendors, driving consensus, resolving complex issues, and executing large-scale vendor transitions to position the company for long-term success.

    + Demonstrate crisis leadership, mobilizing cross-functional teams and stakeholders to respond effectively to emergencies, ensuring the alignment of response strategies with corporate priorities and operational continuity.

    + Provide strategic guidance on large-scale projects and initiatives impacting the entire organization, overseeing the deployment of resources and ensuring integration with operational priorities, leveraging internal expertise to drive execution.

    + Lead the strategic direction of thermal and hazardous materials safety protocols, ensuring comprehensive risk management and safety procedures throughout the lifecycle of lithium-ion technology integration into operations, from production to transport and vehicle integration.

    + Oversee the management of an extensive $100M+ operational and capital budget, driving cost optimization initiatives, aligning financial resources with corporate goals, and ensuring the fiscal health and sustainability of the organization’s security programs.

    + Forge and sustain collaborative relationships with cross-functional leadership teams (HR, safety, facilities, legal) and senior executives to drive organizational alignment, ensuring seamless integration of security and emergency management initiatives with overall business strategy.

    What you bring

    + Bachelor’s degree (or higher), OR 10+ years of relevant experience

    + Law enforcement / security and emergency management experience, leading large-scale corporate operations across multiple locations

    + Executive protection experience, including facilitating executive drivers

    + Leadership skills for managing high-performing teams and driving strategic alignment

    + Proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships with HR, safety, facilities, legal, and local law enforcement, fire, and emergency management agencies

    + Strong verbal and written communication skills for clear, concise updates to executives and site leadership

    + Knowledge of security practices, emergency management protocols, NFPA codes, fire suppression systems, and hazardous materials safety

    + Crisis management expertise, making timely decisions in high-pressure situations

    + Operational excellence in leading through critical incidents

    + Security gap identification and solution formulation

    + Proficiency in analyzing emerging technology trends in security and emergency management and integrating innovative solutions to enhance organizational efficiency

    + Vendor management experience, including large-scale vendor transitions and negotiations

    + Budget management experience with large-scale operational and capital budgets

    + Workplace violence prevention program leadership

    + Willingness and ability to travel 40% of the time, domestically and internationally

    Added bonus if you have

    + Bachelor’s degree specifically in security management, emergency management, criminal justice, or a closely related field

    + Advanced degree specifically in security management, emergency management, criminal justice, or a closely related field

    + Professional or volunteer fire fighter experience
