Scheduled Hours: Day Shift, 7-8 hours per shift.
Job Description:
A Brief OverviewPerforms reception and a variety of clerical functions and tasks utilizing specific knowledge of medical terminology and hospital procedures related to department specific needs. Provides basic patient care under the direction of a licensed nurse as required. Provides high quality care to the following patient populations: Adult, Medical/Surgical, Geriatric, and Telemetry.What you will do
+ Greet visitors and callers to ascertain purpose of visit or call, and direct them to appropriate staff.
+ Facilitate admissions, discharges and transfers in collaboration with other staff.
+ Assemble, clean sheet, and tear down medical records..
+ Operate office equipment such as: nurse call, fax, scanners, photocopier, computer system, telephone system, and telemetry.
+ Accurate and timely order entry.
+ Perform various clerical and administrative functions, such as ordering and maintaining an inventory of supplies.
+ Perform quality checks on equipment, i.e. crash cart, transport monitor.
+ Transport specimens and blood products.
+ Adhere to safety practices for own personal protection, i.e. gloves for blood product pickup.
+ Flexibility in unit assignment as directed by patient care needs.
+ Demonstrate accurate keyboarding proficiency and computer navigation skills.
Qualifications:
Qualifications
+ H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) Required
+ Completion of C.N.A course if currently in high school. Required
+ Medical Terminology course or within one year of hire Required
+ 1-3 years computer classes/experience Preferred
+ 1-3 years previous experience in the medical field Preferred
+ Prefer computer classes/experience
+ Prefer previous experience in the medical field
+ Prefer Medical Terminology course or within one year of hire
+ Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
+ Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, and other office procedures and terminology.
+ Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
+ Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
