    Simon & Schuster is looking for a Managing Editorial Assistant to support the Atria Books Senior Managing Editor. Atria Books, an imprint of Simon & Schuster, was founded in 2002 and has published hundreds of bestsellers in a wide range of categories, including commercial and literary fiction, mysteries and thrillers, narrative nonfiction, memoir, politics, popular culture, science, personal development, and spirituality.

    The Managing Editorial Assistant handles many responsibilities, including:

    • Setting up ISBNs

    • Inputting and maintaining metadata in the TM database

    • Setting and tracking due dates

    • Following up with Editorial on late or missing items

    • Routing jacket/cover mechanicals

    • Reviewing pass for press materials

    • Creating bound galley covers

    • Running various reports, such as bound galley review, jacket/cover updates, and production schedules

    • Routing manuscripts through Legal

    • Confirming contracts have been signed

    • Assisting the Senior Managing Editor

     

    This candidate should have clear communication skills, a great attention to detail, and an ability to learn quickly. A positive attitude and interest in the publishing industry as a whole is also very advantageous. This job is entry-level, so no previous experience is necessary, though experience with a publishing internship or publishing classes would be preferable.

    The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York City, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
