Job Title: Mechanical Engineer
Job Description
Join a dynamic manufacturer specializing in surface heaters, temperature controllers, and insulators used across various industries. This role offers a contract-to-hire opportunity for a skilled Mechanical Engineer to contribute to innovative solutions that prevent freezing, ensure content flow, and maintain critical process temperatures.
Responsibilities
+ Review design specifications submitted by sales and application engineering for feasibility and manufacturability.
+ Utilize provided hand sketches, 2D drawings, or 3D files to recreate customer geometry using SolidWorks.
+ Complete heating element layout designs according to design and manufacturing best practices.
+ Create and review shop drawings, bills of materials (BOM), bills of operations (BOO), and labels for custom heating products.
+ Assist Application Engineering and Sales with application specifications and customer inquiries.
+ Perform heat transfer analyses for various applications, including freeze protection, condensation prevention, and process heating.
+ Collaborate with manufacturing and testing lab personnel to troubleshoot and validate custom heating solutions.
+ Engage directly with customers to assist with application-related queries and tasks.
+ Undertake any other duties as assigned.
Essential Skills
+ Associates Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
+ At least two or more internship and/or co-op experiences in mechanical engineering within a design-focused manufacturing environment.
+ Proficiency in SolidWorks.
+ Experience in Finite Element Analysis (FEA), with coursework in heat transfer and flow analysis.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering is preferred.
+ Candidates with a background in Mechanical Engineering Technology (M.E.T.) are considered if strong in FEA.
+ Experience with ANSYS simulation testing.
+ Knowledge of Inventor and AutoCAD is beneficial.
Work Environment
The role is situated within a medium-sized manufacturing company headquartered in Columbus with a workforce of 260 employees. The position primarily involves working in an office setting, although occasional visits to the manufacturing floor may be required to collaborate on product and equipment matters. The company provides a professional environment that encourages innovation and teamwork.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $28.85 - $33.65/hr.
