    PURPOSE:

    This position manages the Business Process Management (BPM) center of excellence team that leads all aspects of strategic enterprise-wide, business process management initiatives including process transformation, process automation and reengineering, and process architecture. The incumbent will function as a champion of process improvement methodologies and implementation throughout the organization and will build strong enterprise-wide partnerships to influence and grow a community of practice and culture of continuous improvement. This individual will leverage industry leading best practices for process improvement, enabled by automation and AI, to drive the achievement of enterprise goals. This leader manages and oversees resources responsible for leaning out business processes and designing/developing business process automation to drive efficiency and effectiveness to CareFirst.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    + Manage a team of direct reports who address complex, enterprise-wide business problems using continuous improvement best practices and tools. The manager ensures timely and quality delivery of critical cross-functional process improvement projects and provides oversight for developing and implementing proactive solutions for process innovation. Utilize a deep understanding of industry-leading technologies and forward-thinking competencies to establish and fulfill development plans with staff to drive learning and mastering new and innovative automation and AI tools to create process efficiencies across the organization. Maintain capacity models and schedules, including resource planning and delivery timelines, to ensure stakeholder satisfaction and goal achievement.

    + Provide thought leadership for business process management maturity strategy and roadmap, developing best practices based on industry standards for process design, re-engineering, and innovation. Create and foster an environment of continuous improvement enabled by technology, develop program frameworks, governance structures, tools, and templates for delivering cross-functional initiatives, and provide guidance on BPM tools and process automation solutions. Establish relationships across key business roles, and align stakeholders, capabilities, and resources to achieve complex divisional and enterprise objectives. This includes administrative expense reductions, service improvement, and continuous quality improvement.

    + Drive innovation by recommending and implementing cutting-edge business process automation solutions in collaboration with IT and functional leaders to enhance operational efficiency. Understand and analyze stakeholder needs, introduce new ways of working, and guide business teams in adopting these solutions through workshops, simulations, and information exchanges.

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:

    This position manages people.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    **Education Level:** Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field OR in lieu of a Bachelor's degree, an additional 4 years of relevant work experience is required in addition to the required work experience.

    Licenses/Certifications Upon Hire Preferred:

    + Scrum Alliance Certified Enterprise Coach

    Experience:

    + 5 years Related professional experience.

    + 1 year Supervisory experience or demonstrated progressive leadership experience.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    + Lean/Six Sigma.

    + Payer experience preferred.

    + Can negotiate skillfully in tough situations with both internal and external groups; can settle differences with minimum noise; can win concessions without damaging relationships; can be direct and diplomatic; gains trust quickly of other parties to the negotiations; has a good sense of timing.

    + Strong focus on driving change, developing relationships, proactive, ability to drive to decisions in a collaborative fashion.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs)

    + Ability to prioritize projects and allocate resources based on organizational goals.

    + Ability to establish relationships and credibility with engineers.

    + Ability to cultivate a collaborative, high-performing team environment.

    + Understanding of distributed computing principles.

    + Collaborating on a cross-functional team to execute against our product road map.

    + Experience working with relational databases.

    + Select, monitor, coach, develop, and grow employees.

    + Support the operations and business continuity.

    + Knowledge and experience with various delivery methodologies.

    + Experience in software development life cycle (SDLC) and delivery.

    + Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.

    + Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems.

    + Fundamental knowledge of software engineers? best practices, agile methodologies, CI/CD pipelines.

    + Identifies technical risks and develops mitigation strategies; introduces and recommends industry best practices and standards for the project.

    + Evaluates and assists in the selection and procurement of hardware and software technologies and serves as a mentor for junior developers.

    + Works with stakeholders as well as technical and analytical counterparts to define constraints and develop requirements and concept of operations documentation.

    + Ensure code quality standards, deployment methodologies and practices.

    + Knowledge of code deployment architecture and methodology.

    + Reviewing the work of other developers and providing feedback.

    + Ability to communicate technical requirements to all levels of expertise.

    + Proficient in establishing and maintaining good working relationships.

    + Must be able to meet established deadlines and handle multiple customer service demands from internal and external customers, within set expectations for service excellence.

    + Must be able to effectively communicate and provide positive customer service to every internal and external customer, including customers who may be demanding or otherwise challenging.

    **Salary Range:** $139,520 - $258,984
