This vacancy is located in theHousekeeping DepartmentofLDH/OAAS/VILLA FELICIANA MEDICAL COMPLEX in Jackson, Louisiana. This position may be filled by a probation or promotion of a permanent state employee.

The salary for this position is $800.00 biweekly/$10.00 an hour for the Custodian 1, $856.00 biweekly/$10.70 an hour for the Custodian 2 or $980.00 biweekly/$12.25 an hour for the Custodian 3.
The salary can be higher depending on experience.
This position offers additional pay: Longevity Pay

Job Duties and Other Information
This position serves as a Custodian for the Housekeeping Department at Villa Feliciana Medical Complex, an acute and long-term care hospital whose mission is to operate health care programs which provide medical care and treatment for residents with acute, subacute, and chronic illnesses and/or disabilities resulting from trauma or genetic defects.
VFMC is a specialized 24-hour medical facility operating with 150-175 staffed beds, with a license capacity of 299 beds. All beds are licensed as hospital beds. The facility operates a small hospital care service that is surveyed by health standards using hospital licensing requirements, with the remainder of the facility surveyed annually under CMS and state standards for nursing facility care. Specialized units include 37 beds for acute and subacute care including a wound care service, and the only inpatient tuberculosis program in the state. The facility is staffed with a table of organization of 216 classified positions and 20+ unclassified positions with a budget in excess of $25 million. The physical plant consists of three patient care buildings, administrative building, activity buildings, support service buildings, staff residences, and a variety of storage and special purpose structures, located on a 157 acre site with its own fresh water system, sewer system, chiller and boiler systems, and electrical distribution system. This facility has control of passage with a security gate at entrance.
The duties assigned include the following:
65% Clean, mop, dust and sweep assigned areas on a daily basis. Wash Bedside Curtains, Clean Trash Cans, Clean blinds, Clean Bathrooms including commodes and face bowels, Mop Dining Rooms. Clean contaminated trash bins, decontaminate patient rooms and restrooms which contain bio-hazardous wastes, such as blood, urine, used needles, etc. Dispose of infectious waste when daily. Clean trash, cigarette butts and wash patios around exterior buildings.
20% Strip, buff, and wax floors to an assigned area on a regular basis using required industrial machinery. Vacuum by using a wet/dry vacuum cleaner. Clean furniture, walls, baseboards, doors, mirrors and shower stalls by using chemical cleansers required for health standards.
10% Load, unloads, and operates commercial size washers, dryers and other laundry equipment.
Stacks laundry and linen.
Shakes out linen prior to processing through the dryers.
Checks laundry in and out against laundry list and records any discrepancies.
Picks up and delivers linen and laundry to patient buildings.
Reports damaged laundry items to supervisor.
Cleans assigned work area and equipment by sweeping, mopping, and dusting and emptying trash containers.
Steam clean outside of buildings, windows and walkways using an industrial steam cleaner. Remove insect in lighting fixtures, bug containers, bug lights etc.: Mix cleaning solutions to proper concentrations as necessary for various tasks.
Attends in-service training required by HCFA and/or the hospital pertaining to safety, bio-hazardous materials, chemical safety, new equipment orientation, infections control procedures, etc.
5% Performs other custodial tasks necessary for the smooth operation of the facility.
