    Description

    As the Nursing Program Administrator maintains responsibility for the planning, evaluating, and directing of the nursing education programs. Provides leadership to the Associate Degree Nursing and Practical Nursing Programs.

     

    This position is open to Internal Candidates Only

     

    Examples of Duties

     

    + Assures the Associate Degree Nursing program is compliant with NJ BON regulations and ACEN (Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing) standards. Assures the Practical Nursing Program is compliant with NJ BON regulations.

    + Completes the NJBON, ACEN, and NLN annual reports and surveys. Supervises the collection and maintenance of program data to support the systematic plan of evaluation to meet accreditation standards and with faculty evaluates and makes program decisions based on supporting data.

    + Participates in continuing education provided by the accrediting bodies and updates the college and faculty to changes in regulations and standards.

    + Collaborates with the Nursing Department Chairpersons and faculty to maintain curriculum that is current, rigorous and in compliance with accreditation standards.

    + Prepares the Academic Affairs Nursing Mid-Year and End-of-Year Report.

    + Maintains the Nursing Program Handbooks, Nursing Faculty Handbook, Nursing Website, Nursing Program Consumer Disclosure Outcome Data Forms, and Assessment website.

    + Supervises and completes performance evaluations for Nursing Department Chairpersons, Assistant Director, Skill and Simulation Laboratory, and Program Coordinator.

    + Recommends full-time nursing faculty for retention, tenure and promotion.

    + Seeks input from the Nursing Department Chairpersons and faculty and makes recommendations to the Senior Vice President of Academic Affairs regarding the nursing department’s operating budget.

    + Submits requests for Perkins funding and assures compliance with Perkins requirements.

    + Approves payroll for nursing part-time employees via the college’s online payroll system.

    + Oversees the admission process for the Associate Degree Nursing and Practical Nursing Programs.

    + Collaborates with Nursing Department Chairpersons and faculty to review admission criteria. Designs, implements, and evaluates strategies to improve student success and program retention. Collects and assesses data on strategies used to promote student success and together with faculty implements.

    + Seeks out professional development opportunities to promote clinical, classroom and leadership expertise. Fosters professional development opportunities for faculty and staff.

    + Develops and maintains relationships with BSN completion programs and assists to develop, implement and monitor articulation agreements.

    + Represents the college at both local and state level related to the nursing program, i.e. Tri-Council, NJ Council of Associate Degree Nurses, Workforce Development Board, Stockton University Nursing Advisory Board, and Cape May County LPN Program Advisory Board.

    + Develops and maintains working relationships with contractual agencies. Collaborates with Nursing Department Chairpersons to explores opportunities to create new clinical opportunities. Assures program compliance with clinical agency contracts, including all faculty and student health and safety requirements.

    + Implements the resolution of student grievances, problems or complaints in compliance with the college and accreditation standards.

    + Chairs and coordinates the activities of the Nursing Department and Nursing Program Advisory Council Committees. Supervises the collection and maintenance of meeting minutes in compliance with accreditation standards.

    + Represents the nursing program in college governance activities, i.e. President’s Council and Academic Affairs Councils (AAC) in compliance with ACEN standards.

    + Collaborates with Workforce Development in professional development workshops for faculty, nurses and other health care professionals. Advises them regarding applications for professional accreditations for health programs. Assists the Health Professions Institute in matters related to business and industry outreach, advisory boards and program planning.

    + Performs other duties as assigned.

    Typical Qualifications

    Education:

    + Master's degree in Nursing

    + License to practice as a Registered Nurse in New Jersey

    + Certified Nurse Educator (CNE) Credential or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) or equivalent preferred

    Experience:

    + Minimum two years of supervisory experience

    + Minimum two years of teaching experience

    + Experience with nursing program accreditation process

    Competencies and Skills Required:

    + Knowledge of Microsoft Office products
