National Salvage and Service is seeking to hire an Assistant Controller which is based out of our Corporate Office, Bloomington, IN.

The Assistant Controller supports the Controller in directing the organization-s accounting functions, including ledger maintenance, cost accounting, budgeting, audit, tax, and compliance. This role ensures the accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting and helps develop internal controls and financial procedures to support strategic decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Assist in managing day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable/receivable, general ledger reconciliations and tax reporting.
+ Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
+ Support the Controller with budget preparation, forecasting, and variance analysis.
+ Coordinate and assist with external audits, including the preparation of schedules and supporting documentation.
+ Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local financial legal requirements by staying current on regulations and advising management on needed actions.
+ Help implement and monitor internal controls and financial policies to maintain data integrity and compliance.
+ Supervise and mentor accounting staff; review their work for accuracy and completeness.
+ Assist with process improvements and financial systems implementation or upgrades.
Qualifications:
+ Bachelor-s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or MBA preferred).
+ 4-7 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 1-2 years in a supervisory or senior accountant role.
+ Strong knowledge of US GAAP and financial reporting.
+ Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Sage, QuickBooks, SAP, or Oracle) and Microsoft Excel.
+ Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
+ Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving abilities.
Preferred Skills:
+ Experience in the construction industry and cost accounting.
+ Knowledge of Sage 300 and related programing.
