Job Description

The Iowa Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Division of State-Operated Specialty Care, Bureau of State Training School (STS) is seeking a Public Service Supervisor (Night Supervisor) to join our team! This is a full-time position with a Wednesday – Saturday, 9:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m. work week. We offer a strong opportunity for advancement, growth, and development.

The Night Supervisor position provides supervision and leadership to the staff working the overnight shift. The primary duties include:

+ Schedule night staff work shifts to maintain security of the campus.

+ Assess coverage needs when approving/disapproving staff requests for paid time off.

+ Drive State vehicle to transport students and provide campus security.

+ Gather information and create necessary reports on student population daily.

+ Assess employee performance and prepare written Performance Evaluations.

+ Operate facility switchboard during times of need.

+ Dispense medication accurately when required.

+ Visit all living units several times a night to ensure security is being maintained and to answer staff questions.

+ Understand and comply with the administrative rules and Eldora STS policies relating to discipline and time off.

+ Participate in physical restraints when necessary.

Applicants will be required to complete a background check to be considered for this position.

STS offers a holistic social, behavioral, psychiatric, academic, and vocational program that utilizes evidence-based practices to provide a secure setting, rooted in treatment, for males ages 12 to 18 years old who have been adjudicated delinquent. STS provides individualized treatment plans and offers comprehensive education with the goal of successfully transitioning young men back into the community. Minimum Qualification Requirements

Applicants must meet at least one of the following minimum requirements to qualify for positions in this job classification:

1) Graduation from high school (or GED equivalent) and experience equal to four years of full-time work experience in general office administrative support; specialized technical program support; or program administration, development, management, or operations.

2) All of the following (a, b, and c):

a. Graduation from high school (or GED equivalent); and

b. One year of full-time work experience in general office administrative support; technical program support; or program administration, development, management, or operations; and

c. A total of three years of education and full-time experience (as described in part b), where thirty semester hours of accredited college or university course work in any field equals one year of full-time experience. Graduation from the Iowa Certified Public Manager Program is also equivalent to one year of full-time experience or education.
