    THE POSITION

    The Department of Transportation Engineering District 10-0 is actively looking to hire a Civil Engineer (Transportation) to join its Traffic Unit.     DESCRIPTION OF WORK

    In the role of Civil Engineer specializing in Transportation within the Traffic Unit, the incumbent will play a crucial role in supporting a wide array of traffic-related initiatives encompassing design, maintenance, construction, and associated programs. This position entails a comprehensive review of design plans to ensure compliance with established standards, as well as the development of accurate quantities and cost estimates for various projects. Additionally, the engineer will be responsible for conducting detailed engineering and traffic studies, which include evaluating traffic patterns and assessing safety measures to enhance overall roadway efficiency and security. All tasks will be executed in alignment with the organization's Business Plan Goals and Objectives, ensuring that each project contributes to the broader mission of improving transportation infrastructure and public safety.

    Work Schedule and Additional Information:

    + Full-time employment

    + Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.

    + Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in District 10.

    + Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

    REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

    + Five years of civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty, and an Engineer-in-Training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists;or

    + Successful completion of the Civil Engineer Trainee training program (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration);or

    + Four years of civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty, and an engineer-in-training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists, and an associate’s degree in civil engineering technology or a closely related engineering discipline;or

    + One year of civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty, and a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a closely related engineering discipline.

    Special Requirement:

    + This position requires possession of a valid driver’s license.
