THE POSITION

The Department of Education, Office of Elementary and Secondary Education is seeking a highly competent Executive Secretary 1. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
As an Executive Secretary 1, you will p rovide administrative support services to the Deputy Secretary for Elementary and Secondary Education by coordinating secretarial activities for the Deputy and Bureau Director offices. You will use independent judgement to plan and analyze work that relieves the Deputy Secretary of administrative details as well as interpret and transmit information to other offices. You will also provide input for program decisions, assist staff with researching information used for problem resolution, and review incoming and outgoing correspondence. This role requires the ability to maintain a confidential environment and effective communication to liaise with bureaus, school districts, intermediate units, and other educational institutions. In addition, you will screen visitors and phone calls, take and transcribe dictation, organize data for meetings and appointments, and prepare travel arrangements.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
+ Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
+ Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
+ Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. You will work three days per week in the office and telework two days per week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.
+ Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
+ Three years of progressively responsible experience in secretarial work. Appropriate formal post high school secretarial training may be substituted for the required experience on a year-for-year basis; or
+ Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
