The Department of Pediatrics is seeking a **_Clinical Nurse_** who will provide nursing support for Pediatric Allergy physicians and clinic in the Allergy, Immunology and Rheumatology division.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
_Food Challenges_
+ Prepare for upcoming challenges 2-3 months prior to their appointments. Determine whether new or additional labs are needed, order labs in EPIC if needed.
+ Provide educational materials to parents regarding their food challenges, including details regarding the conduct of food challenges, informed consent, and educational videos.
+ Confirm with the MOC that patients are scheduled in EPIC.
+ Provide new and prior labs results to the MD or NP to review.
_Medical Line/Epic InBaskets_
+ Answer the medical line and EPIC messages and triage calls / messages accordingly or respond appropriately.
+ Entering calls in EPIC and forward to appropriate provider.
+ Refill rx's entering into EPIC and forwarding to appropriate M.D. to sign, check to see when patient was last seen, the dose is correct, determine correct doses for EpiPens, determine whether prior authorization's need to be updated.
_Prior Authorizations_
+ Work with fellows/NPs/MDs to obtain medications, formulas, biologics.
+ Submit to appropriate insurance/pharmacy for authorization.
+ Follow-up as necessary with providers/pharmacy/insurance for completion of prior authorizations.
+ Arrange shipment of biologics with specialty pharmacy for patient.
_Labs_
+ Place lab work orders per request from patient/providers and enter in EPIC.
+ Work with physicians to add additional testing to the order and notify the appropriate lab.
+ Forward results to correct provider.
_Emails_
+ This position will be responsible for monitoring the Pediatric Allergy email.
+ Respond accordingly to request from patients, answer patients' questions, submit lab slips per patient's request, and submit prescription requests.
+ Forward any medical questions/concerns/advice to appropriate provider.
_Clinic_
+ This position also requires attending allergy clinic up to 8 half days per week.
+ Will be responsible for monitoring the patient flow, assist in oral food challenges, performing skin tests per providers order, document results into EPIC, maintain patient handout file box within the clinic pod with the appropriate education handouts, administer allergy shots, flu vaccinations, and other injections, maintain skin testing supplies, maintain supplies for oral immunotherapy, assist in delivering oral immunotherapy, monitoring for any adverse reactions to allergy shots, other immunizations, and oral immunotherapy.
_Miscellaneous_
+ Obtain medical records.
+ Write letters to school regarding IEP allergy plan per providers recommendations.
+ Obtain results from outside labs.
+ Maintain all faxes which are sent to allergy and distribute accordingly.
_Research_
+ Assist in maintaining patient registries and clinic spreadsheets for research purposes.
+ Obtain consent for specific research projects, document in EPIC.
+ Perform skin testing and pulmonary function testing.
+ Implement standards of Good Clinical Practices in the care of research subjects.
Minimum Qualifications
+ Individual must be a registered nurse, licensed in the State of Maryland.
+ Current CPR certification.
+ Must maintain current licensure and certification during duration of employment.
+ Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education beyond HS Diploma/Graduation Equivalent, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
Preferred Qualifications
+ Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or related discipline.
+ Minimum of one (1) year as a registered nurse.
+ SoCRA certification.

Starting Salary Range: $64,600 - $113,300 Annually ($79,000 targeted; Commensurate w/exp.)
