    The Johns Hopkins University Krieger School of Arts & Sciences (KSAS) is seeking an **_Associate Director for Academic Advising, Systems & Technology_** within the Office of Academic Advising (OAA) who will manage the operational and technical parts of the advising program. The mission of the OAA is to empower and support students’ holistic well-being as they navigate academic choices, explore meaningful learning opportunities, and pursue their personal, academic, and professional goals. This hybrid position (in office days/remote 2) reports to the Associate Dean for Academic Advising.

    Specific Duties & Responsibilities

    + Advising Systems & Technology Leadership (50%).

    + Responsible for program management and tasks such as advising, systems management, and academic catalogue review.

    + Responsible for liaising and collaborating with important offices such as the Registrar’s Office, the IT office, and the Whiting School of Engineering

    + Oversee implementation of administrative policies and procedures critical to office operations.

    + Develop and maintain strategic campus partnerships (i.e., SEAM, UIS, EDMS, OUR, SSEI, GEO, SDS, etc.)

    + Manage multiple critical operational tasks (i.e., Academic Standing, Academic Reinstatement, Evaluation and Assessment, Advising Technologies and Systems Maintenance, Undergraduate Academic Program Catalogue Maintenance.

    + Manages the transfer evaluation process for incoming and current students.

    + Supervises up to 3 full-time staff members, including an Assistant Director for Transfer Advising. Establish clear expectations, monitor progress, and provide constructive feedback to ensure high-quality work. Address challenges proactively and facilitate problem-solving to maintain efficiency and effectiveness.

    + Provide guidance, mentorship, and professional development opportunities to professional staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment.

    + Manage and oversee staff-led projects, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and timelines. Delegate responsibilities effectively while providing the necessary support and resources for successful project execution.

    + Manages the catalogue revision process for academic departments and for general school policy.

    + In conjunction with the registrar, manages Stellic, the academic planning software for students and advisors.

    + Serves as a member of JACAPP, the creation and revision committee for undergraduate academic policy.

    + Serves as a member of the academic advising leadership team, supporting the Associate Dean with vision, goals, and strategic planning

    + Conduct ongoing evaluations and assessments to ensure the effectiveness of programs and services and recommend and implement modifications as necessary.

    + Coordinate ongoing training for academic advisors and other academic department staff members on various advising policies, systems, and technologies.

    + Other duties as assigned.

    _Academic Advising (50%)_

    + Advise a caseload of student (approximately 65-75 students).

    + Help students navigate their academic experience by assisting with proactive academic planning, creative problem solving, and connection to academic resources.

    + Work with students holistically to help them meet their personal and academic goals and to help find solutions for personal, social, financial, and academic problems.

    + Assist undergraduates with course registration, academic strategies, selecting majors and minors, and developing post-graduation plans.

    + With the purpose of facilitating student success and retention, track student progress by running reports, analyzing student data, and communicating with students regarding registration, grades, and graduation.

    + View and manage early warning flags by providing outreach to students and communicating with faculty.

    + Troubleshoot problems with registration and refer students to support services to facilitate success.

    + Advise undergraduates on academic opportunities and requirements, policies, and procedures.

    + Provide early interventions, identifying and communicating with “at-risk” students identified by faculty in each academic term. Meet with academic probation students to conduct an academic success plan.

    + Monitor students’ academic progress to advise them of their academic standing.

    + Communicate to students the process and deadlines for graduation processing.

    + Create and maintain accurate academic records using degree audit software and student information system.

    + Document student meetings and notes in the advising software platform.

    Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    + Proficient in delivering exceptional customer service.

    + Experience with educational technology and its application to advising.

    + Strong analytical skills, ability to strategize and create streamlined processes computer software applications.

    + Ability to manage competing priorities.

    + Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to draft and prepare original correspondence.

    + Ability to relate well to a diverse student body, understand the needs of students from underrepresented backgrounds, and appreciate and be committed to diversity.

    + Demonstrated success in providing high-quality service to students with effective outreach abilities.

    + Excellent organizational skills.

    + Ability to interact in a professional manner with faculty, students, staff and the public.

    + Ability to multitask and work independently is essential.

    + Must have strong collaborative, consensus-building, and problem-solving abilities.

    + Proficiency in computer software applications.

    Minimum Qualifications

    + Master's or Ph.D. in education or specific field related to program.

    + Five years experience in all aspects of academic program administration. Supervisory experience preferred.

    + Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education beyond HS Diploma/Graduation Equivalent, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula

    Preferred Qualifications

    + Five years of experience with higher education advising experience.

    + Supervisory experience.

    Starting Salary Range: $64,600 - $89,000.00 - $113,300 Annually (Commensurate w/exp.)

     

    Employee group: Full Time

     

    Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:30am - 5:00pm

    The listed salary range represents the minimum and maximum Johns Hopkins University offers for this position, based on a good faith estimate at the time of posting. Actual compensation will vary depending on factors such as location, skills, experience, market conditions, education, and internal equity. Not all candidates will qualify for the highest salary in the range.
