Position Description

Serco is seeking a Mission Command Training Manager 1 to support our team at Joint Base Lewis-McChord (JBLM) in Washington. The selected candidate will serve as the Mission Command Training Center (MTC) Collective Training Team Leader and Mission Command Mentor-Trainer, providing expert consulting support to military or defense clients. This position is contingent upon program award.

In this role, you will:

+ Coach, mentor, and train Army staffs (battalion through corps level) in Mission Command.

+ Plan and conduct STAFFEXs, MDMP workshops, CPXs, Tactical Command Post training, and other events at battalion, brigade, and division levels.

+ Develop training support packages and scenarios relevant to the unit’s operational environment.

+ Provide over-the-shoulder and observer/controller-trainer support throughout the Exercise Life Cycle (ELC), including planning and After Action Reviews (AAR).

+ Serve as HICOM or EXCON OIC, executing scenario injects to meet unit training objectives.

+ Apply a deep understanding of the Military Decision-Making Process (MDMP) to guide operational planning.

+ Mentor executive officers and chiefs of staff on staff synchronization during planning and execution phases.

+ Be familiar with Rapid Decision-Making and Synchronization Process (RDSP).

+ Act as deputy site lead in the absence of the site lead.

Qualifications

Qualifications

+ Bachelor’s degree with 6 years of military training support experience; OR

+ Master’s degree with 4 years of military training support experience.

+ Completion of Army CGSC MEL 4, ILE, or equivalent military schooling.

+ Experience in operations and training at the brigade or higher level.

+ Minimum of 4 years’ experience with training management.

+ Active U.S. DoD Secret security clearance.

+ Ability to work on-site at JBLM.

+ Willingness to travel up to 10% as needed.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

+ Strong mentorship and training skills in mission command doctrine.

+ Experience planning and executing large-scale staff training exercises.

+ Proficiency in the full training cycle, from scenario development to post-event assessment.

+ Strong communication and organizational leadership skills.

Additional desired experience and skills:

+ Former Armor, Infantry, Field Artillery, Engineer, or Aviation Battalion Commander; or former Brigade Commander.

+ MEL 1 (Senior Service College Graduate).

+ Experience as an instructor at a Maneuver or Mission Command Center of Excellence.

+ Former CTC Observer/Controller-Trainer.

+ Experience with MSEL development and managing OPFOR during exercises.

+ Knowledge of Army simulation systems such as IEWTPT, JLCCTC WARSIM, and LVC-IA.
