Position Description
Serco is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Principal Cyber Systems Engineer to support our Submarine Trainer Development Team in Newport, Rhode Island. This role involves direct collaboration with U.S. Navy cyber teams to support Risk Management Framework (RMF) activities and ensure the accreditation of Naval Training Systems. This is a full-time onsite role requiring U.S. Citizenship and a DoD Secret clearance.
In this role, you will:
+ Develop and manage required RMF documentation and cyber artifacts, including System Security Plans (SSPs), Risk Assessments, POA&Ms, MOUs, and Interconnection Agreements.
+ Coordinate and execute cyber security scanning and the application of Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs).
+ Assess and document the cybersecurity posture of large-scale, high-fidelity Naval training simulation systems.
+ Support the engineering team in identifying vulnerabilities and implementing mitigation plans.
+ Collaborate with government stakeholders to manage cyber-related inquiries and support responses to RMF-related data calls.
+ Continuously improve and maintain the security configuration of training system environments.
Qualifications
Qualifications
Level 3:
+ Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science/Engineering or related field with 5 years of experience; or Master’s degree with 3 years; or 9 years of experience in lieu of a degree.
+ Knowledge of DoD STIGs and experience with RMF and ATO processes.
+ Experience developing cybersecurity documentation such as POA&Ms.
+ Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.
Level 2:
+ Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science/Engineering or related field with 2 years of experience; or 6 years of experience in lieu of a degree.
+ Knowledge of DoD STIGs and RMF process.
+ Experience developing POA&Ms.
+ Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
+ Strong experience applying STIGs and managing RMF lifecycle documentation.
+ Ability to communicate complex cyber requirements to multidisciplinary engineering teams.
+ Proficiency in identifying and mitigating security vulnerabilities in software and hardware systems.
Additional desired experience and skills:
+ Prior experience building ATO packages.
+ Active Secret clearance and current IAT Level I certification (Network+, Security+, Linux+).
+ Experience with Linux systems, virtualization platforms (KVM, VMware), and Cisco network configurations.
+ Familiarity with network protocols, OSI layers, and TCP/IP.
+ Configuration management using tools such as Git or SVN.
