UPMC St. Margaret Dermatology is excited to announce a significant expansion of our services, including doubling the number of Mohs procedure rooms and investing in state-of-the-art equipment.
As part of this growth, we are seeking dedicated Medical Assistants to join our team. Our facility specializes in medical dermatology and innovative Mohs Micrographic surgery, supported by our onsite pathology lab. Our physicians offer comprehensive care for dermatologic conditions, and the ideal candidate will play a crucial role in assisting with surgical procedures, administering medications, providing patient education, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Responsibilities:
+ Organize patient flow and check schedules.
+ Accompany patients to exam/procedure rooms and assist with walking, transfers, dressing, and specimen collection.
+ Collect patient information, take vitals, and perform screenings.
+ Relay instructions to patients and families.
+ Send/receive patient medical records in compliance with HIPAA and other regulations.
+ Prepare and clean patient rooms, instruments, and equipment.
+ Manage inventory and restock exam/procedure rooms.
+ Perform phlebotomy, EKGs, and level one labs.
+ Assist physicians with procedures and document patient information.
+ Answer calls and provide patient education.
+ Obtain lab/x-ray reports, hospital notes, and referral information.
+ Schedule appointments and verify insurance coverage.
+ Administer injectable medications and vaccines under physician supervision.
+ Comply with OSHA, CLIA, and PA Department of Health regulations.
+ Maintain confidentiality and adhere to UPMC Health System policies.
+ High school diploma or equivalent is required.
+ Must have basic computer skills and knowledge of medical terminology, examination, diagnostic and treatment room responsibilities. **Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:** CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hireCPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire.
