Position Specific Description
Assist the wholesale origination team in evaluating energy sales and their impact on FPL’s resource adequacy and system costs. Determine resource capacity expansion plan that would maintain FPL’s resource adequacy after the wholesale energy sales, while cost effectively adding generation to the system.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
+ Evaluate wholesale energy sales including counterparty systems (load and generation) and anticipated profile of energy sales.
+ Maintain FPL capacity expansion planning model (currently Aurora) that projects revenue requirements for new resource investments, and system production costs FPL generation fleet.
+ Incorporate wholesale energy sales into capacity expansion planning model to evaluate the impact that wholesale energy sales have on FPL’s resource adequacy.
+ Improve related processes and techniques, including incorporating stochastic modeling into capacity expansion planning to evaluate loss of load probability and effective load carrying capability of various resources.
+ Maintain consistency with FPL dispatch models across other business units including within EMT, in Power Delivery, and in Resource Planning.
Ideal Qualifications:
+ Bachelor’s Degree
+ Experience: 8+ years
+ Experience with capacity expansion planning models (Aurora, SERVM, Enelytix, etc.) and production cost models.

+ Conducts complex market assessments, production cost models and econometric models
+ Captures the effect of key energy market factors
+ Determines commercial viability of targeted energy projects, hedge strategies, or proprietary trade strategies on a macro or regional basis
+ Performs objective analysis for existing and proposed regulations, key political trends, fuel source scenarios and comparative supply and demand modeling
+ Oversees applicable budget
+ Performs other job-related duties as assigned

+ Bachelor's Degree
+ Experience: 10+ years
