We have a very competitive salary scale that pays higher than most local districts. Our starting salary for a 1st year teacher with no prior experience is between $45,000 and $47,000 and it goes up from there aligned with years of prior experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
+ Plan and teach the Spanish curriculum to classes in a developmentally appropriate manner, with an emphasis on differentiating instruction and using assessments effectively;
+ Create an inclusive classroom environment through supportive exchanges with students and clear expectations for community behavior;
+ Use a broad range of instructional modalities to teach the Spanish language;
+ Use a broad range of technology tools to bring to life Spanish instruction;
+ Prepare lesson plans that engage, stimulate and instruct scholars;
+ Provide conversational classes where pronunciation, vocabulary and important words and phrases are taught;
+ Schedule and prepare scholars for oral and written examinations;
+ Monitor scholar's progress by writing up reports and grading assessments;
+ Teach scholars about Spanish Culture, which may include festivals, traditional food, dress and social conversations;
+ Organize fun events where scholars can showcase their Spanish language skills;
+ Conduct research on teaching methods, materials and language games that can be used in class;
+ Regularly evaluate student performance, and monitor for achievement of state standards;
+ Act as a role model by making your students feel motivated while maintaining an approachable personality;
+ Regularly communicate with parents and legal guardians regarding child's performance, track and record student progress and keep records up to date for progress reports and report card conferences;
+ Provide a classroom management plan ensuring safety at all times;
+ Execute daily lesson plans for all assigned blocks;
+ Implement all REACH routines and procedures with fidelity;
+ Submit lesson plans and unit plans in a timely manner;
+ Actively participate in all professional development and coaching sessions as well as weekly team planning;
+ Incorporate feedback from coaches in a timely manner;
+ Consistently analyze scholar data and engage in self-reflection on practices;
+ Articulate and model the school's mission and core values.
+ Support and follow school policies
+ Be a positive and contributing member of the professional community.
+ Perform other duties as assigned by the Head of School.
Qualifications/Education and/or Experience
It is preferred that teachers hold a NYS professional teaching certificate in their subject area or be eligible for reciprocity but not required to include (1) Minimum Bachelor's degree in subject area to be taught, Master's Degree preferred; (2) Proven track-record of high achievement in the classroom and commitment to accountability preferred ; (3) Belief in and alignment with REACH Academy Charter School core beliefs and educational philosophy; (4) Valid New York State Certification, except in cases where the Head of School shall make an exception under the terms of this Policy, in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
Salary
In accordance with REACH Academy Charter School's salary step scale and verification of prior years of teaching. Step 1 starts at $45,000 and Step 11 is $65,830. You must have a valid teaching certificate to start on the salary steps or be working towards completion of certification. Uncertified teacher working towards certification starts at $40,000
