    Work Schedule Summary

     

    Varied schedule. Events will take place mostly during the evenings and primarily on weekends. There may be daytime shifts occasionally. You are scheduled in accordance with booked events. Evenings and weekends will be required. Generally able to work around most student class schedules. 10 – 20 hrs. per week.

    Job Summary

    The Events Support Staff team provides all the set-up and tear-down of events held at the museum, This team is also the on-site support during the full run of the event. The Museum will host an average of 3 events each week. Types of events include but are not limited to evening dinners, weddings, holiday parties, daytime retreats, board meetings, museum festivals, corporate galas, etc. The size of these events can range from 10 guests to 1400 guests. The Events Support Staff team is an integral part of the success of all events at the Natural History Museum of Utah. We also place a strong emphasis on providing an exceptional experience to every guest who visits the museum or participates in any of our programs. We believe that everyone at NHMU , at every level and in all departments, are a critical part of providing this level of experience. Therefore, all staff members receive ongoing training and are expected to consistently contribute to creating exceptional, memorable, and inclusive experiences for our guests, partners, and the community.

    Responsibilities

    Primary responsibilities are: the complete set-up and take-down of events; during the event, staff will monitor key locations in the museum for event activity, according the event type; additional support/tasks assigned as needed. Position requires near constant movement and lifting of tables, chairs, and other furniture. Must be comfortable lifting more than 25 pounds. Responsibilities also include but are not limited to: providing museum guests & staff, caterers, and additional vendors with exceptional customer service; receiving ongoing training of museum policies and procedures through museum meetings and activities; attend Events Support staff meetings; other duties as assigned

    Weekends and evenings availability REQUIRED . Previous event industry and customer service experience strongly preferred.
