    Essential Functions

    Research Scientist will contribute to research projects focused on understanding the functional properties of human stem cell-derived neurons and organoids, utilizing advanced techniques such as patch clamp electrophysiology, multi-electrode arrays, calcium imaging, and optogenetics.

    Specific responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

    1. Leading or co-leading scientific research projects as a Principal Investigator or Co-Investigator.

    2. Staying up to date with relevant scientific literature.

    3. Designing and implementing new methodologies and assays.

    4. Troubleshooting and applying innovative solutions to research challenges.

    5. Analyzing, interpreting, and synthesizing data to draw meaningful conclusions.

    6. Training and supervising students and research staff.

    7. Collaborating with internal and external research teams to ensure rigor and reproducibility.

    8. Preparing research findings for presentations, abstracts, and peer-reviewed publications.

    9. Serving as a scientific resource for departmental and institutional initiatives.

    10. Participating in educational activities, including teaching classes and presenting seminars.

    11. Assisting in the preparation of research grant proposals.

     

    Problem Solving

     

    This position demands proficiency in computational data analysis and statistical methods.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Bachelor’s degree in biology, chemistry or other scientific discipline in a related field plus four years of experience or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience) required. Demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills also required.

     

    Applicants must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description.

     

    Preferences

     

    PhD degree in biology-related fields and at least 4 years of postdoctoral research training in neuroscience required. Demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills also required. This position is not responsible for providing patient care.
