    The Huntsman Mental Health Institute and the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Utah Spencer Fox Eccles School of Medicine, are looking for a dedicated, experienced, and team-focused full-time **Psychiatrist** to join its faculty. This psychiatrist will join the HMHI treatment team to provide comprehensive care at the Young Adult Comprehensive Assessment and Treatment ( CAT ) Program, a sub-acute, premier, destination-care assessment and treatment program. Patients are referred from national and international partners for our expertise in assessing, diagnosing, and treating complex psychiatric conditions.

     

    The Young Adult CAT Program is a part of the Huntsman Mental Health Institute ( HMHI ), a dedicated supervised living site in the Salt Lake City metro area. Patients participate in a voluntary, 6-8 week program at a 24/7 supervised living environment, during which they receive full psychological and psychiatric assessment, treatment, and future treatment recommendations.

     

    Successful candidates will have a faculty appointment in the Department of Psychiatry, where appointment and rank are based on academic experience and professional accomplishments. Our academic medical system prioritizes delivery of outstanding patient care, the highest standard of training for medical students and residents, and pioneering translational research programs.

     

    The University of Utah is located in the capital city, Salt Lake City – one of the most beautiful cities in the world, surrounded by mountains, with world-class skiing, hiking, rock climbing, and mountain biking.     Qualifications:

    Applicants should hold or be eligible to apply for a current, unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of Utah and have expertise in adult and/or adolescent inpatient psychiatry. Completion of a residency in Psychiatry is required. The candidate must be board certified and have at least 2 years of clinical experience post residency. Child and Adolescent Psychiatry subspecialty training/certification is not required but would be strengthen consideration for the position.

    Responsibilities:

    _Clinical care:_

     

    The HMHI Young Adult Comprehensive Assessment and Treatment (YA- CAT ) program provides comprehensive diagnostic assessment and treatment for up to 16 patients ages 18 to 36. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to collaborate on a multidisciplinary team, use excellent communication skills, and have a sophisticated knowledge of complex psychiatric presentations.The psychiatrist will interface with treatment team members, including psychology, social work, and nursing daily. The clinician will have regular contact with the patients, patients’ family members, and referral sources. Call is an expected clinical responsibility for all faculty members. Collaboration with colleagues to provide cross-coverage and vacation coverage will be expected. Specific assignments will be coordinated through the Psychiatry Division Chief.

     

    _Investigation:_

     

    Engage in scholarly activities; Develop durable materials (papers, courses, presentations, posters, games) based on scholarly activities.

    _Education:_

    Engage in patient care activities with learners. (Residents, medical students, and fellows, and trainees from other disciplines); Serve as medical student and resident mentor; Teaching/supervising medical students, residents, fellows, and other trainees during psychiatric clinical rotations

     

    _Administration:_

     

    Administrative duties associated with clinical care provided; Administrative service to the Department of Psychiatry, the Spencer Fox Eccles School of Medicine and the health system, including peer review and participation on committees; Potential to become a leader and champion for residential treatment programs at HMHI . Report to and be reviewed annually by the Division Chief as part of School of Medicine faculty appointment.

     

    The percentage of effort spent in education, investigation, and administrative activities will be negotiated annually. Specific assignments will be coordinated through the Division Chief of Adult Psychiatry and/or Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
