UW Facilities manages the University’s buildings, infrastructure, and land, with more than 1,100 employees in a variety of fields. The Asset Management group includes Capital & Space Management, Real Estate, Sustainability, and other teams responsible for planning and workload management. We have an outstanding opportunity for a **Parking Equipment Program Specialist** to be responsible for development and support of Transportation Services parking equipment platforms, infrastructure, hardware solutions, tools, applications, interfaces, and systems. Duties include all aspects of equipment hardware systems development lifecycle: Planning, analysis, design, implementation, and maintenance. This position works under the general guidance of the Senior Computer Specialist.
This position will provide technical expertise in parking equipment platforms and be an active part of the parking operations project team responsible for designing, developing, training, and deploying new features for Transportation Services third party parking systems. Functions will be performed in partnership with Transportation Services Parking Operation Managers, Facilities Services Business Systems and Technology group, UWIT, and T2 Parking Management Systems.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Parking Equipment Technology Systems Development & Support (60%)
• Monitor platforms, infrastructure, and applications for optimal performance.
• Analyze issues and take appropriate corrective action on performance issues.
• Install, update and maintain hardware and firmware upgrades to support equipment operability.
• Configure parking software & applications in relation to equipment operability.
• Develop and create training materials and provide hands on training to support and troubleshoot parking equipment.
• Communicate with system users and equipment manufacturers to understand and act on reported issues or concerns with existing equipment systems.
• Develop equipment maintenance schedule and maintain equipment.
• Implement appropriate fixes following established application design/build standards and operational processes and procedures.
• Create documentation of assigned equipment systems per established documentation standards.
• Analyze, track and report equipment operations, downtime, and error codes.
• Assist with risk management, security compliance and business continuity planning.
• Serve as primary point of contact with manufacturer and UW.
• May lead classified and student positions in carrying out equipment repair and maintenance.
• Ability to install and lift hardware up to 50 pounds.
• Identify and lead implementation of solutions when problems are encountered.
• Participate in technical user groups and online forums to maintain current knowledge of parking equipment technologies and how they may be effectively used to solve business problems.
• Maintain awareness of parking equipment technology advances and participate in team activities to examine when and how new approaches can be applied to Transportation Services.
• Carry out regular compliance inspections of TS parking assets and/or lead students in this process.
• Define scope, develop work plans, track status, and provide regular reports on progress of technology issues.
End User Technical Support - Hardware & Application Software (25%)
• Support tech issues related to field operations as well as computer and application support for TS staff
Program & Project Management (10%)
• Use project management principles to plan, execute, and monitor operational efforts necessary to implement equipment system install and improvements.
• Develop or refine processes and/or workflows.
• Negotiate processes with other teams.
• Collaborate with related teams to support customer issues and negotiate new processes.
• Keep all project stakeholders informed of project status.
• Collaborate appropriately with other team members to ensure broad knowledge to drive the project work and proper preparation for operational handoffs.
Administrative (5%)
• Assist with administration of parking technology platforms such as BOSS, Flex, and T2 Iris
• Update departmental computer inventory and associated device records
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements include:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Technology Management or other related field of study.
• Minimum 2 years of experience with technology systems, IT support, hardware configuration, or parking software & applications.
• Demonstrated experience in maintaining a high-level of confidentiality.
• Proven ability to independently prioritize workload against real time project and departmental demands.
• Demonstrated experience maintaining composure in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Strong interpersonal, teamwork and customer services skills.
• Demonstrated ability to develop creative solutions to complex business and institutional needs.
• Demonstrated excellent written/oral communication skills, technical documentation skills, user liaison skills, and personal interaction abilities.
• Possession of a valid Washington State driver’s license (frequent travel to parking lots, garages, structures, and other parking equipment locations to deal with emergency situations related to technology or other hardware issues).
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
Desired:
• Knowledge of transportation software programs such as Wheels, T2 Flex and UW data systems.
• Experience with LEAN management tools.
Conditions of Employment:
• Ability to lift and install hardware up to 50 lbs.
• This position is designated as one that performs an essential function. This means that the position's incumbent must continue to report to work if the University suspends operations because of severe weather, natural disaster, or another emergency condition unless otherwise notified.
• Work is largely performed in an office environment; however, site visits and periodic outdoor or field work is common.
• Exposure to the elements and variable weather conditions, and materials or fumes consistent with the transportation field are normal and predictable to project assignments.
• Work may be required during hours beyond standard business hours or regularly scheduled shift, including weekends; professional travel may be required.
• Must be able to work in a non-smoking environment.
• Regular and predictable attendance is required.
