Role Overview
The Subsection Leader – Computing, Networking & Mission Systems (CNMS) Applications Engineering will lead the strategy and execution of applications engineering efforts within the CNMS Research & Development (R&D) portfolio. Specifically, this role has a unique responsibility as a people leader over a team of applications engineers, as well as a technical contributor in relevant applications engineering areas. Applications engineering coverage areas include computing/processing, networking/switching, I/O, as well as other product area pursuits related to Integrated Modular Avionics, Vehicle Management Computers, and Stores Management Systems. The leader will support their business team partners in technology development and provide both technical and people leadership support to their team. In addition, this role will be responsible for meeting functional, business, and broad company objectives using lean principles. The role will report to the CNMS Engineering Executive.
Job Description
Essential Responsibilities
More specifically, the individual will:
+ Hold responsibility for the overall engineering leadership of the CNMS Applications Engineering function.
+ Connect with the Avionics business product managers to co-develop a product and technology strategy aligned with market opportunities
+ Demonstrate superior technical expertise while translating highly technical engineering concepts into workable solutions
+ Deliver quantifiable results through leading, motivating, and inspiring others
+ Establish a culture of lean & accountability, with heavy focus on implementing FLIGHT DECK principles
+ Own team succession planning through strong performance management and talent development
+ Develop influential relationships with assigned customers at all levels, and provide specific engineering strategies, credibility, plans and actions that differentiate us from our competitors
+ Foster and inspire a collaborative work style and display team-oriented behavior with a proactive example of communication internally and externally
+ Maintain high visibility as a key Engineering Leader in the Avionics community while being respected for maturity, professionalism, expertise, sound judgment, passion for excellence, long-term commitment and uncompromising integrity
Qualifications/Requirements
+ Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Computer Science, or relevant area from an accredited university or college
+ Minimum of 10 years of working experience in a highly technical engineering field, preferably avionics systems
+ Leadership experience with projects and programs
+ Financial knowledge

The base pay range for this position is $142,000-189,500 annually. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus based on a percentage of your base salary/ commission based on the plan.
