JEVS Human Services is one of the largest human services agencies of its kind. For the past 70 years, we have served the Greater Philadelphia community making hope happen for more than 27,000 individuals annually through a range of programs such as job skills training, career management, vocational rehabilitation, recovery services, adult residential and day services and personal assistance in the home. These programs are designed to help individuals overcome quality of life challenges and also those who are facing socio-economic conditions such as the underemployed and the unemployed.
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced and enthusiastic individual to join our hireAbility team as a Community Employment Specialist. HireAbility offers an empowering, customized employment program to assist individuals of all skill levels and experiences living with an intellectual disability, mental illness, or physical disability or chronic disease by preparing them for competitive integrated employment.
Major Responsibilities:
+ Manage assigned caseload to provide all units of service required for job seekers
+ Develop, modify and monitor results of the job seeker’s goals, fading assistance as job seeker becomes more independent
+ Match a job seekers interests and abilities with available jobs, companies, and industries; constantly look for new employers and nurture relationships with existing employers.
+ Search employer database for job openings and follow leads presented w/employers for possible positions
+ Conduct an assessment of each job seeker. Meet with consumer, family and other individuals to understand the individual’s total life experience, not just their work history, and interest, skills, likes and dislikes.
+ Develop a quality resume for each job seeker that represents the totality of the person, not just their work history.
+ Support job seeker in obtaining an interview for identified jobs. Attend interview if needed.
+ Support participants currently employed to increase skills, abilities, hours, duties, authority as desired by participant for career development.
Qualifications:
+ Must have a valid Driver’s License
+ Bachelor’s degree in a human services related field or 2 years of college course work in a human services related field and experience (see below)
+ 1 year experience in human service field (for individuals with Bachelor’s degrees)
+ 2 years’ experience in human service field (for those individuals with 2 years of college work)
+ Hours of work may vary, depending upon shifts worked by participants/job seekers; hours of work may include evenings and weekends.
+ Ability to deal tactfully with staff, clients, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel and the general public
The base pay for this position ranges between $18.00 to $24.50 and will vary based on factors such as skills and experience. Base pay is one part of the Total Compensation that JEVS Human Services provides to recognize employees for their work.
