    Job Description

    We are seeking a skilled MySQL Database Administrator to assist with the migration of MySQL databases to Amazon RDS. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with MySQL and AWS services, particularly in database migration, troubleshooting, and management. The MySQL DBA will be aligned with the Everwell product, which will be transitioning from a MySQL to RDS database. This resource will assist with performance tuning, foreign key management, and schema management. Additionally, they will support the refactoring of the database schema to address memory issues caused by the multitude of tables.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Database Migration: Plan and execute the migration of MySQL databases to Amazon RDS for MySQL.

     

    Performance Optimization: Optimize database performance during and after migration, ensuring minimal downtime and high availability.

     

    Data Validation: Use AWS Database Migration Service (DMS) to validate migrated data, ensuring data integrity and consistency.

     

    Replication Setup: Configure MySQL replication for ongoing data synchronization between source and target databases.

     

    Security Management: Implement security best practices for databases on AWS, including encryption, access control, and monitoring.

     

    Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve issues related to database migration and performance.

     

    Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of migration processes, configurations, and best practices.

     

    $62/hr to $67/hr. - Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.

    Skills and Requirements

     

    10+ years of experience as a MySQL DBA, with proven expertise in managing large-scale SQL Server databases in a production environment.

     

    Previous experience with Amazon RDS databases, preferably assisting with migrations to RDS.

     

    Strong understanding of relational database management systems and their principles.

     

    Extensive knowledge of ETL processes and the ability to troubleshoot issues with jobs not completing on time.

     

    Proficiency in leveraging SSIS/SQL.

     

    Familiarity with batch processing, multi-layer SQL queries, and performance analysis on SQL processes.

     

    Knowledge of industry best practices and emerging trends in SQL Server database administration.

     

    Ability to work independently and effectively prioritize and manage multiple tasks.

     

    Attention to detail and strong organizational skills. Experience with DynamoDB.

     

    Experience with Neptune.

     

    Previous insurance industry experience.

     

    Certifications: AWS Certified Database - Specialty or AWS Certified Solutions Architect. null
