Responsibilities
This position will support the monthly, quarterly and annual accounting and finance functions for the SmartHealth Medical Benefit Plan sponsored by Ascension for its associates. Specific tasks include, but are not limited to, the following:
+ Requisition purchase orders, submit invoices for payment processing and investigate unpaid invoices/vendor issues.
+ Prepare wire transfers and payment requests for review and approval.
+ Manage and reconcile purchase card transactions.
+ Reconcile medical and pharmacy paid claims to supporting documentation.
+ Prepare monthly and annual journal entries for review and approval.
+ Prepare monthly balance sheet account reconciliations for review and approval.
+ Prepare the calculation for the monthly premium equivalent allocation to the markets and
+ perform various analyses on enrollment and monthly expense by market/BU.
+ Prepare financial statement variance analyses and provide narrative explanations for significant variances to plan/budget.
+ Assist in obtaining and reconciling detailed claims paid data as requested.
+ Assist with external audit requests.
+ Assist with preparing and submitting the quarterly rolling forecast and mid month projection submissions.
+ Manage shared email box and respond to questions or requests as needed.
+ Managed shared google drive including file organization.
+ Other tasks as needed.
Requirements
Licensure / Certification / Registration:
+ Accountant Licensure required relevant to state in which work is performed preferred.
Education:
+ High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Bachelor's degree with 1 year of experience OR 5 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required. 2 years of leadership or management experience preferred.
Additional Preferences
+ Experience in preparing journal entries.
+ Experience in working with more complicated formulas within Excel required.
+ Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting highly preferred.
