Job Description
An Insight Global client is looking to hire an experienced, hands-on UX Design Lead/Manager to join their team and help shape the future of retail through intuitive, scalable, and impactful user experiences. Youll be involved in all aspects of product development working alongside their dedicated self-checkout team of talented designers bringing the next generation products to life. In this role, youll work with stakeholders in product, engineering, and sales to design solutions that empower retail teams around the world. Youll also be included in and leading customer engagements, walking through designs and understanding their journey and business goals. This team is looking for someone who is passionate about solving real human problems with intuitive research-backed solutions, cares about the small details as much as the big picture and can balance creating quality design work while leading a team of contractors designing alongside you.
Youll be joining a team of over 20 supportive UX professionals in various disciplines including UX Design, UX Architecture, Strategy, Research, and Service Design.
Responsibilities
Working with the Director of User Experience to prioritize work, you'll lead UX designers to create smart design solutions that delight customers while delivering measurable business value
Manage you and your teams design pipeline & milestones
Present design work to key stakeholders and customers
Own UX Design for key segments of our retail software, including self-checkout platforms, from initial concepts to final visuals and handoff
Promote close collaboration between UX team members and product, engineering, and other internal teams
Balance user needs with business goals, technical constraints, and platform guidelines
Assume design responsibilities as needed, manage junior designers by providing feedback and direction on their design efforts
Design research projects, including usability testing (both remote and in-person) and translate insights into informed designs
Facilitate design workshops, using design thinking techniques to explore user needs and design concepts from multiple perspectives
Collaborate to develop, roll out and reinforce new UX processes

Skills and Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Visual Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Industrial Design, or equivalent work experience/training
50/50 management to design work (mainly going to be hands on design within the first 6 months)
Full UX process - discovery research, architecture, usability research, design and mock
6+ years of UX design experience for mobile and/or touch screen
2+ years of experience managing other designers
Strong portfolio demonstrating user-centered design thinking, research, interaction design, and UI design skills
Experience facilitating customer interviews and/or workshops
Solid understanding of usability principles, design systems, and accessibility standards
Proficiency in Figma for creating responsive designs and prototypes
Proactive and comfortable managing your own projects
Organized and detail-oriented in documentation, project tracking, and stakeholder management
Demonstrates strong communication skills and has an ability to uncover latent user needs and anticipate gaps early in design process experience designing for self-checkout systems, kiosk products, and/or retail industry products, especially for global markets
