Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Sr. Staff Mechanical Engineer. This position is located in **Colorado Springs, CO or Manhattan Beach, CA** and supports the Sentinel program.
What** **You’ll** **Get** **To** **Do:
+ Support mechanical design oversite for mechanical models and drawings (including compliance with industry and program standards)
+ Apply the principles of engineering to design components and systems using applicable standards and specifications.
+ Participate in technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for mechanical, electrical and integrated systems
+ Perform requirements analysis, develop source data for requirements, generate test requirements and prepare test reports
+ Verify specifications and designs through modeling and simulation, data processing, and performance analysis
+ Support all phases of the systems lifecycle including concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal
+ Review customer deliverables, with a special focus on mechanical designs, testing, and requirements verification
+ Maintain design documentation and follow configuration management requirements
+ Develop Basis of Estimates (BOEs) for the systems engineering function.
+ Interface with AF customer and Subcontractor.

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.
Job Qualifications:
You’ll** **Bring** **These Qualifications:
**S** **taff** **Mechanical** **Engineer** :
+ Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 14 years of experience, or 12 years of experience with a Master's degree; 10 years of experience with PHD
+ Must be a US Citizen with an active DoD Secret Clearance, at time of application, current and within scope, with an investigation date within the last 6 years
+ Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs
+ Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite of tools - Project, PowerPoint, Excel, Word
+ Strong understanding of engineering principles, processes and applications (engineering standards, Mechanical design and standards, CAD modeling and analysis, configuration management, material review board, process control, tooling, facilities, software, etc.) Hands on experience in project management and control account management
+ Demonstrated experience leading a team of engineers, leading a project, and/or mentoring junior engineers
These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:
+ Must be able to work independently, function in a dynamic environment, and be flexible to changing direction
+ Excellent interpersonal, written communication, and presentation skills, including the ability to clearly and succinctly communicate complex concepts
+ Exposure to missiles program requirements & with propulsion
+ Proficient with 3D design/2D drawing CAD in NX
+ Proficient with PDM and/or CPLM
+ Proficient with GD&T and ASME Y14.5-2009
Salary Range: $141,400.00 - $212,000.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
