About the role This position is responsible for troubleshooting and processing, installing and removing molds, setting up raw materials for molded parts, assurance of the quality of parts being molded, regrinding of sprues/runners, and scrapping of contaminated parts/materials. This position is responsible for performing more complex repairs, adjustments, troubleshooting, processing, and maintenance of industrial production and processing machinery in a safe, clean, and efficient manner. Responsibilities Responsible for complex set-up/start-up of Injection Molding Equipment Monitors tooling condition and notifies tool room when mold is unable to produce quality parts or preventative maintenance is required Operates material movement equipment in a safe and efficient manner to prevent injury to self, others, and other equipment Participates in in-process inspections of injection molded components Follow all processes, policies, and procedures to account for materials, finished goods, and quality system requirements Responsible for shut down, lock out of equipment, and informing supervisor if safety device is found defective Utilizes appropriate diagnostic problem-solving techniques Repairs or replaces broken or malfunctioning components of machinery or equipment Observes and tests the operation of machinery or equipment to diagnose malfunctions, using voltmeters or other testing devices Reassembles equipment after completion of inspections, testing, or repairs Operates newly repaired machinery or equipment to verify the adequacy of repairs Analyzes complex failures, machine error messages, or information obtained from operators to diagnose equipment problems and determine root cause of failures Has a body of knowledge to work on different injection molding equipment/processes due to a broader scope of knowledge of injection molding equipment, and does so with advanced troubleshooting skills Coaches more junior technicians on diagnosing and repairing equipment Manages projects assigned from supervision Tests and evaluates new and modified molds. This includes giving inputs to improve the mold’s performance and ability to produce quality parts Monitors Operation Equipment Efficiency (OEE) to ensure set standards are achieved or exceeded Modifies and adjusts injection molding parameters Performs changeovers and set-ups to equipment as required Cleans, lubricates, or adjusts parts, equipment, or machinery Leads, advises, coordinates, or performs training as assigned. Provides input for work performance as required Demonstrates equipment functions and features to other technicians Provides technical advice regarding tools, equipment, and technology Assists engineering with special projects as assigned Repairs or maintains the operating condition of industrial production, processing machinery, or equipment Disassembles machinery or equipment to remove parts and make repairs Examines machine parts for defects, such as breakage or excessive wear Records repairs, maintenance, and process adjustments required Assures all assigned equipment is clean and all safety guarding is in place Performs additional duties as assigned Qualifications Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance Ability to operate newly repaired machinery or equipment to verify the adequacy of repairs Ability to analyze failures, machine error messages, or information obtained from operators Ability to determine causes of operating errors and implementing effective solutions Ability to use judgement related to identifying and segregating non-conforming materials and components Self-motivated and capable of identifying and completing tasks with minimal direction Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture of goods Ability to use judgement related to identifying potential safety hazards Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written oral, diagram, or scheduled format Ability to communicate in verbal and written English Must possess an understanding of basic math skills: adding, subtracting, and measuring Ability to provide direction to other technicians for the resolution of escalated technical problems Ability to identify complex problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions Ability to monitor and assess performance of yourself and other individuals to make improvements or take corrective action Ability to work M - F day shift, OT as needed, pay $31 - $34 per hour Ability to utilize Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and Outlook at a basic level Requires standing, walking, sitting, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, handling, grasping, pulling, pushing and feeling Requires eye/hand/foot coordination Requires the ability to lift up to 40 pounds Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential job functions Education & Experience High school diploma or equivalent required, two-year technical degree preferred. Significant experience and skills in the field may be considered in lieu of diploma or equivalent RJG certification, or similar, preferred Minimum of 8 years technical Injection Molding experience.
