    **Pay Range:** $32.95 - $35.22/hr

    Summary:

    The Clinical Fellow in Speech-Language Pathology (CF-SLP) provides speech-language services under the supervision of a certified speech-language pathologist (CCC-SLP), as required by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) standards for Clinical Fellowship. This mentored position serves as a transition from student to independent clinician. The CF engages in evaluation, intervention, documentation, and interdisciplinary collaboration while receiving structured feedback and direct/indirect supervision throughout the duration of the fellowship.

    Required Job Qualifications:

    • Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an ASHA-accredited program.

    • Completion of all academic coursework and clinical practicum required by ASHA.

    • Eligible for temporary licensure in Illinois as a Speech-Language Pathologist.

    • Strong communication, organizational, and clinical reasoning skills.

    • Eligibility to begin ASHA Clinical Fellowship.

    Preferred Job Qualifications:

    • Prior clinical experience in hospital or medical settings.

    • Interest in working with medically complex or interdisciplinary teams.

    Responsibilities:

    • Participates in the evaluation process by identifying the need for services, defining communication or swallowing issues within the scope of SLP practice, helping determine goals, and contributing to treatment priorities.

    • Collaborates with patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members in developing appropriate, patient-centered intervention plans.

    • Implements intervention plans and provides speech, language, voice, cognitive-communication, and swallowing therapy using evidence-based practices.

    • Monitors patient progress to assist in determining whether to continue, modify, or discontinue services in collaboration with the supervising SLP.

    • Participates in outcome measurement and helps interpret clinical data related to treatment effectiveness.

    • Maintains productivity expectations as defined by the department and CF program guidelines.

    • Adheres to all hospital, departmental, and regulatory policies and procedures.

    • Maintains accurate and timely patient documentation, including evaluations, progress notes, and discharge summaries, in compliance with supervision and licensure guidelines.

    • Participates in quality improvement initiatives and ongoing program evaluation activities.

    • Engages in ongoing self-reflection and professional development to identify areas for growth during the CF experience.

    • Completes and maintains documentation related to health requirements, licensure, and ASHA CF certification eligibility.

    • Monitors personal performance and collaborates with CF mentor to address supervisory needs and clinical challenges.
