The Production Supervisor leads all activities of assigned team, including safety, quality, service, value, and teamwork. This position is responsible for ensuring all critical business aspects related to the assigned team while clearly communicating information to plant leadership. This role ensures production of a quality product, processing in accordance with mandated regulations, current Good Manufacturing Procedures (cGMP) and established company procedures.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

+ High School Diploma or GED required. College degree in industrial technology, business, management, or related field preferred.

Experience:

+ Minimum three years of experience in a manufacturing environment required.

+ Previous supervisory or leadership experience required.

+ Experience in a food processing environment strongly preferred.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

Production Process

+ Manage all aspects of assigned work area including but not limited to projects, coordinating production workflow, troubleshooting production processes, costs, scheduling, shipping, receiving, and quality. Ensure on-time delivery of product, within budget, and meeting or exceeding customer expectations.

+ Document and understand required data to control production processes.

+ Assist in the development and updating of standard operating procedures.

+ Comply with and follow company food safety and quality policies, ensuring fundamental food safety and quality practices are maintained to achieve food safety and quality objectives and to support the development, implementation, maintenance, and ongoing improvements of food safety programs.

+ Perform and oversee audits and inspections of the workplace.

+ Monitor production processes, anticipate production concerns, and make effective decisions while striving for continuity of the production process.

+ Investigate incidents, including safety, quality, or food safety.

+ Manage required documentation to meet Essentia internal and external regulations.

+ Drive root cause problem solving to address vendor, supplier, and customer issues concerning quality and delivery.

+ Operate company vehicle, forklifts, and pallet jacks as needed.

+ Other duties as assigned.

Training and Development

+ Conduct and provide quality, safety, and production training for production personnel.

+ Coach and develop team members through the performance review process.

+ Conduct and document training of employees, including safety and food safety standards.

+ Foster a culture of continuous improvement to improve cost, quality and safety standards for assigned area.

+ Encourages team member development and engagement. Create an environment for team members to grow.

Management

+ Lead through the Essentia Values of Teamwork, Respect, Agility, Creativity, and Knowledge, and model the associated behaviors. Manage assigned team members in performance of their duties. Establish and monitor individual and team goals which are aligned with the organization’s business strategies and objectives and ensure department is properly serving its internal and external customers and meeting defined expectation.

+ Responsible for the corrective actions of production personnel according to company policies and procedures.

+ Maintain a clean production area for safe working conditions.

+ Provide Production Manager with input for hiring production personnel.

+ Manage team member performance, including annual performance evaluations and ongoing conversations.

+ Attend supervisory and safety meetings at designated times.

+ Comply with and ensure team member compliance with respectful workplace policy and Code of Conduct.

+ Collaborate with all functional areas in the plan

Safety

+ Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and enforce safety protocols to maintain a safe working environment for all employees.

+ Report all safety incidents or injuries immediately.

+ Conduct regular safety inspections and audits, identifying and addressing potential hazards to minimize workplace risks.

+ Lead safety training programs and initiatives to promote employee awareness and adherence to safety standards and practices.

+ Investigate and report safety incidents, implementing corrective actions to prevent future occurrences and improve safety performance.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

+ Ability to troubleshoot malfunctions in equipment/machinery and perform repairs.

+ Ability to operate and train personnel on equipment and machinery used in the processing of product.

+ Ability to maintain high level of confidentiality related to all duties and responsibilities

+ Ability to monitor the production processes, anticipate production concerns and make effective decisions while striving for continuity of the production process.

+ Ability to work in a team environment and implement continuous quality improvement.

+ Ability to maintain good employee work ethic and provide a positive attitude among employees.

+ Ability to perform basic and complex mathematical calculations.

+ Ability to work daily and overtime as necessary.

+ Ability to remain calm and professional during peak periods.

+ Knowledge and ability to analyze, forecast, and plan production objectives.

+ Knowledge of organizational methods and the ability to manage multiple tasks/projects simultaneously

+ General knowledge of OSHA standards and safe work practices.

+ Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing with Essentia Proteins personnel, contractors, vendors, suppliers, and other business related contacts.

+ Ability to adhere to USDA, OSHA, and other regulatory and compliance recordkeeping requirements.

+ Proficiency with the computer and Microsoft Office applications.

+ Knowledge of dryer operation and evaporation processes. Ability to operate forklifts and non-motorized pallet jacks as needed.

+ Ability to assist in other work related areas as requested.

This job requires the mental capabilities to analyze the production process to develop manufacturing techniques/procedures to attain a quality finished product produced in a timely and efficient manner. Furthermore, the incumbent must have the ability to solve problems as they arise, strive to improve upon current processes, and possess excellent communication skills in conveying the production process to plant personnel. Basic math calculations.
